Tor will crawl close behind Fimble, ready to provide assistance. He imagines something grappling the little adventurer, and is ready to grab Fimble and pull him away from any such threat.
Fimble leads the way up the small tunnel, finding ample handholds when it starts to curve upward. Finally, when the tunnel is almost a vertical shaft, Fimble reaches the end, a wooden door at the top of the tunnel that blocks further advancement.
Fimble approaches the door slowly and cautiously examines it without touching it. He turns around and smiles sheepishly saying, "I hope this thing doesn't explode." If Tor doesn't stop him to take the lead, Fimble will try to open the door. If it won't open, he'll move aside to let Tor beat it down.
Fimble, unable to budge the barrier above his head, gladly switches places with Tor. The burly fighter braces himself as best he can an presses upward on the wooden door. There's some slight movement but he fails to breach the opening.
Tor listens carefully to see if he can hear anyone reacting on the other side of the door. (Listen +5) If not, he'll try taking 20 on the strength chest to burst the bolt, as he believes that will be quieter than smashing through the door itself.
That results in a strength check of 23.
If that fails, he smashes through the trap door with his chain.
ooc: the tunnel is not wide enough for two people.
Tor takes a deep breath, braces himself as best he can in the nearly vertical shaft, and heaves with all he's got against the trapdoor above him. It rises an inch, then two, but no more than that. It's obviously not barred, but there is something very heavy resting on it.
