The rats rush toward Gideon, one taking the lead. It snarls and snaps its jaws but can't find an opening around Gideon's shield. Gideon returns the favor by thrusting his new sword down, skewering the rat and ending its life.

ooc: It's Tor's turn. If he's weilding the scimitar he can't really do much because Gideon is in his way. Even if he switches to his chain the remaining rat is out of his reach.

Tor readies an action to step forward (swapping with Gideon) and strike with his scimitar as soon as Gideon steps back.

ooc: Actually, Tor said that after your turn was over. If the next rat charges in, though, we can get twice the attacks if you hit it and step back. Assuming you don't wallop it down in one shot like you did the first one, in which case the battle is over anyway.

OOC: Oops, you're right. In that case, Gideon will whack the rat (assuming it charges him), and if it lives he'll step back.

The second rat rushes Gideon, but once again is unable to get around the shield and is left snarling at air.

Tor, unfortunately, won't be much help. Have to work on the timing for that switch-and-hit move!

Gideon stabs out at the feral rodent, but this time his aim isn't as good. He and Tor execute a smart-looking two-step, swapping positions. Unfortunately, Tor doesn't have any better success in combatting the creature. The rat lunges forward and snaps its jaws at its new target, but it misses yet again.
