In the past few years I've hit this sweet spot where about 90% of the characters I play or create are human, with the rest of them being half-orcs, half-elves (i.e. some more exotic flavor of human) and a smidge of halflings (which I have, or once had, something of a soft spot for).

Mostly humans, with dwarves as a fairly strong second place, then a smattering of other options. Most of my favorite characters have been dwarves or human.

Humans and halflings for my thief characters. Half-orc for my fighter/witch hunter. Dwarf for my wizard (He thought he was a giant gnome).
I have always wanted to play a Lizardfolk. If given the opportunity to play one, I think a lizardfolk monk would be keen. Flurry of tail slaps! But lizardfolk anything would be great.
I like the concept of genasi, changeling, warforged and dragonborn stretching race a bit more beyond human and could see myself playing one of those races.

Human, almost always (but not quite always) -- so I voted for that. [Prime.]
Elf, a few times; so I voted for that, too, as a second-place race.

Dwarf, played once. (The mini is still coming in the mail, from Australia?) Didn't vote for Dwarves.

Halfling, once. (Geburgyoron Cranneigh, Cleric of Pelor; he died.) Didn't vote for Halflings.

In approximate order of frequency/success: Human, Part-Elf, Elf, Dwarf, Hobbit. I've played Gnomes and Part-Orcs but not often and never very successfully, so they don't get a vote; ditto for a few wacko races I've random-ed into over time.

And as of right now Dragonborn and Tiefling are both beating Half-Orc and Gnome. I find that very sad.

Well dragonborns can breathe fire, cold, lightning and other junk.

I'm pretty sure a nice percentage of player have been waiting to be allowed to play a good fire breathing character.

And tieflings are tieflings.

Also Half-orcs were teh suck crunchwise for an edition and gnomes.... gnomes are gnomes. I didn't mourn their absence in 4E PHB at all.

Primarily humans (rangers, fighters, paladins, barbarians). Although my favorite character of all time was a dwarven paladin.

Orc, Gnome, Kobold, Half-Orc, Half-anything else except elf, dragon, feline races, in no particular preference.

I'd say that half-elf is probably by far the race I play the most.

Not counting games in which humans were the only option, human is probably the race I play the least.
