rain bats (new critter)

i have been working on a new creature and would like input, criticism or someone to point out it has already been done.

not sure if i can post here in d +d format, so suffice to say, 1 hp, fruit bat sized bat, no attacks or dmg.

however wherever 5 of these bats congregate outside there is a 10% chance of rain. with the chance of rain increasing 5% for every 5 bats in the group.(flock? do bats flock?)

so, if a large or mediumish group of these bats gathers in an area, every night when they leave the cave to feed it will pour buckets. this allows for a way to mess with almost any expidition.
a mountaineering group usually won't be prepared for a really wet area in high altitudes outside a dwarfhold, or in the desert these bats could support an entire mini-ecosystem with the moisture they produce. and i am sure your average black dragon or swamp hag wouldn't mind having a few around that could be called to reduce visibility in tight situations.

any thoughts?

Hey, this is cool! What a neat idea. They'd have to be pretty rare, of course, but it's a perfectly reasonable power for an outsider from the elemental plane of water. I can think of a lot of cool adventure ideas stemming from this.

I like it. :) In colder areas, they could be downright evil, particularly in the mountains. Try climbing up the icy side of Mt. Lion in freezing rain (or maybe snow? sleet? hail?).

Best,
tKL

If they don't really have any combat stats, you might want to see if you can make them work as a hazard instead. Kinda like molds and spores are in 3e.
