Ranger Build

I do feel that it will really suck if TWF is a ranger-only thing. It should be a combat option open to any class (given appropriate prerequisites or tradeoffs) -- and it shouldn't require multiclassing into Ranger to achieve.

I think there are a number of rogues and swashbucklerish fighter-types whose concept is well suited to TWF.

I dunno if this has been brought up. But... Was looking over the pictures from the book.

It has:

Build Options: Archer ranger, two-blade ranger

but then it hs:

Class Feature: Fighting Style, Hunter's Quarry, Prime Shot

Now, I am wondering. What this Fighting Style is, since you do not have to choose a Build. Could this Fighting Style suggest that one could fight in various different manners as a Ranger, but that the Ranger is simply more adapt at archery or two-blades?

I would guess the 'Build Options' will demonstrate how to put together a good archer etc. by picking feats and powers. The 'Class Feature' will probably be similar to 3e in that you chose to focus on one or the other, even if you are not using the build option spelled out in the PHB. ie you might have some wacky ranger/cleric who is not primarily a striker by his power/feat choice but still chooses a fighting style.

Of course that gets into how multiclassing works which we do not know enough about.

I bet it will be like 3e and you merely have to choose a feat for 2WF. No big deal.
Ditto. Heck, we've pretty much been TOLD that multiclassing is basically choosing "feats". So if you want to be a TWF fighter, just pick up that style from the ranger selection.

Where things might get tricky is if you want to grab stuff from a number of different classes (fighter who wants TWF _and_ sneak attack, for example). I guess we'll find out more on Friday.

I think feats could solve that dilemma very well. Just pick a feat. I bet you still won't be able to do it as well as a straight class rogue, but still pretty cool for the stealth-type tanks.
