Get two shields instead. Now you get magic weapons for 50% off (since a +2 shield costs 4150, a +2 weapon 8300, and you get weapon capability out of that shield).

It looks... odd (IMHO)

It looks... ludicrous. I wasn't serious, I just wanted to show a major flaw in that house rule. Even without ridiculous stuff like the Double Shield, this gives two-weapon fighting with weapon and shield too much of an edge. What should be inferiour in offensive power is now better, since you pay significantly less for the other weapon - which also can be used to increase your AC.

What's wrong with a +3 great sword and +2 armor spikes?
Depending on how your DM feels about improved Buckler Defence, maybe you can add a buckler for the AC.
