Just start using critical fumbles.

decide how much swinging room weapons need for your game.

or just git rid of the darn thing.

Perhaps a Vorpal Spiked Chain of Mighty Fumbling?

The rules don't say anything about having to be within reach in order to counter-trip after a failed trip attempt.

You fail to trip the fighter, as you try to swing you chain back aound he catches the end of the chain with his shield spikes and sword. [counter trip succsessful] He gives the chain a mighty yank. You can either drop the chain or fall prone. What will it be?

... greatsword&Guisarme... DR ... quickdraw...

At first: we already seen above that a combination of two weapons like greatsword&guisarme does not work as effectively with Quickdraw as you would wish without houseruling Quickdraw to sheath weapons as free actions.

Second: In your examples, the fighter with two different weapons will have to spend a lot more feats to be equally effective. If he does not, he will lower his average damage output to a value below the Spiked chain wielder, who probably enjoys GWS and GWF.

As for fighting against DRs... With a +5 weapon, I would rather use Power Attack to bash through the DR instead of using a puny adamantite weapon. I will probably still hit more often for more damage.
