I gave it a 9. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and found it to have much of the stuff that some of the detractors say it doesn't have. I'm going to see it again, and that is a rare thing for me and movies.

Supposedly the movie was rushed to beat Superman to the theatres. Don't know how true this is.

I've heard a couple of different radio interviews with Brett Ratner, the director, so far. He mentioned on Opie & Anthony this morning that he has always wanted to do a comic book film, but the other directors such as Brian Singer had them all wrapped up in deals already. So he got a chance to do Superman and jumped at it. Then when Singer dropped out of XMen 3, Ratner decided he'd much rather do that.

He said he wasn't sure why "everyone" on the Internet hates him. Have you all seen excessive hatred for him over this film? I don't recall seeing anything like that. I remember people here wondering how he'd handle the different characters, but nothing like "he's gonna ruin it forever" type stuff.

Maybe he's just reading Marvel fansite forums or something.

Well, saying "everyone hates him" is excessive. But even in ENworld were rabidness isn't as endemic as other sites you still see a lot of hate for Rattner and a lot of love for Singer. Check out the other X-men movie thread (caution: very spoilery!!).

In any case, that is typical of fanboyism and excessive expectations. I'll bet you that if Stan lee or Claremont had complete control over the movie and kept it secret, you'd still have people saying the movie wasn't true to the comics :p

My only beef with the movie is that it's too short. 103 mins is just too liitle time for a story with this many angles. Also, movie going audiences have gotten used to longer special effect movies. Hopefully there will be an extended version.

It was rushed to make the Memorial Day Weekend release date, yeah. Considering the tight schedule Ratner was on taking over after the two previous directors dropped out, X3 came out pretty friggin solid. I gave it an 8, but if they cut enough material from the theater release to make a more fleshed out ~2.5-3 hour version for the DVD I can imagine it jumping up easily.

Gave it an 8. Probably only deserves a 7. I think I might have just been in the right mood for what it did, but I found the movie as a whole quite effective, if thin on characterization.

I gave it a 10. A lot of great moments that pleased the fanboy in me, as well as moments that were totally new to the story of the X-men but effective nontheless.

In short, it did everything the previous two movies did along with having a nice action-packed ending with lots of pretty explosions ;)

This is definately not the hate and lothing i've seen in other threads. Most of the reviews I've read have it pretty good.
