Really Dumb Hellish Rebuke Question

Parallel question, would a Warlock taking damage from Sacrifice to Caiphon deal out damage to those under the effects of this power?

Yes. It's a tremendously good synergy, though it does require you to use your at-will then your encounter, which is a restriction and all :)

This is what's happening. The character is attacking something in order to garner a benefit.

The benefit is 1d6+whatever damage. The normal way of doing this is to attack someone and deal damage to them with an attack roll. What the warlock wants to do is take some minor damage so that he doesn't have to make an attack roll to hit the opponent, at best. At worst, he's trying to up his damage by exploiting the DM's sense of coolness by 'minor action' pricking himself.

The Bag-o-Rats rule -most certainly- could apply here (the character is not a threat to himself, and it's to exploit a power, so even technically it follows it).

The -fact- is, he's trying to avoid making an attack roll to deal damage with a power not designed around that. If he wants to get the benefit of Hellish Rebuke he has to face -real- danger, not minor inconveniences. The idea of running in and trying to provoke OAs to up damage? Fine. The idea of forgoing attack rolls just to automaticly hit? Terrible.

Don't even entertain this.

I'm not the DM, and I'm new to the table, so I don't want to be the one raining on their parade. Guy last week told a woman playing that no, Beacon of Hope did not give everyone 5 hp at the start of each of her rounds until the end of the encounter and got yelled at, but finally the DM agreed with him. There are a few strange interpretations they use, including that Ethereal Stride can be used to teleport through walls, even without line of sight, because the name of the power is "Ethereal," thus allowing moving through walls on the ethereal plane.

The only real reason I ask about this was because 1. it struck me as incredibly cheesy, and 2. it's an RPGA sanctioned game.

Yeah, it's a situation where all I can do is facepalm and try not to hate myself while grinding this character for an upcoming convention.
