I play in a online game on sunday nights that uses a Mana system.. never really looked too closely at it though (hehe what can I say I play a fighter) but I'll link it below...

The Mana System

Honestly I don't really want to implement an entirely new spell system. But I respect the idea quite a bit.

I see him as Very neutral Good with Lawful tendencies, he spent too much time wandering with an Elf and turned down the chance to be a Holy Knight of Valis and perhaps even king of his homeland... not something a lawful Good person would do.. if all else fails I'm sure I could find a Prestige Class that would work well for him

Where does it say that a lawful good character has to accept offers of knighthood?

Anyways, I still believe that Parn is a lawful good fighter. He wouldn't be a paladin, because we never see him cast divine spells, turn undead, summon a special mount, or use any other paladin-like abilites.

Well kiddies here it is the set up for a new Record of Lodoss War campaign!

Ten years has passed since the dark wizard Wagnard was defeated, ten years since peace was declared on Lodoss. While those ten years were not entirely free of danger life on Lodoss has settled into a somewhat pleasent tedium. However things have stirred in the darkness... things that have lusted for vengeance for two generations...

King Kashue has hired a band of investegators to do a favor for his advisor Slayn. Slayn's apprentice, and defender of Zaxon village, Cecil, had set out from Zaxon village to find Parn and Deedlit, but never returned. Little does Kashue, or anyone for that matter, know that this event will Hearld the next massive change on Lodoss and may once again earn it the name, "The Cursed Island"

Hmmm... I'm still of the opinion of K.I.S.S.
Agreed, simple is good. Personally, on the Orsen thing, I'd go with him having the frenzied berserker class. It's easy enough to explain away that he has the class because Hyuri possesed him, and that his advancement in it is his becoming more familiar with and gaining some degree of control over his abilities. It's not that he said "Hey Hyuri, please possess me" and worked to become a Frenzied Berserker, it's that at one point he lost it. Badly. And Hyuri moved in. Behind the scenes they player chose to advance as an FB, but in game it's involentary. Get this - there's even a packaged mechanic to end his possession: if he becomes lawful, Hyrui is kicked out ... as long as he can maintain his self discipline, that is.

Cooking up a Hyuri berserker template would be more work than is necessary, in my oppinion, and working it as a class seems more... elegant.

Anyway. As regards the elf / spirit thing. Looking over the Complete Divine - maybe have Lodoss elves favored class be Spirit Shaman. There's your detect spirit, summon spirits, etc all right there in one neat package.

Hehe good point, I can see him as Lawful Good Human Paragon 3/Fighter 6/Knight Protector 6 (other levels to be pumped into Knight Protector) just as easily. The lack of bonus feats, but broader collection of skills works well for Parn. He usually ended up on the short end of fights against the likes of Ashram. It's not to say he lacked skill he had plenty, but he was never the best pure warrior.

Edit: And I'm still saying Green Ronin Shaman for the likes of Deedlit and Leaf. I'm still somewhat miffed at the lack of any good response to the question of why of all their "clerics" only Greevus (a priest of the god of war) seems to have any combat skills. It doesn't scream D&D cleric to me. I might rule that Clerics don't automaticlly get proficieny in Medium and Heavy Armor (let 'em keep shields)

I've figured out how I'd stat out Ashram too..

Fighter 8/Battle Scion 8... and of course his legendary weapon would be Soul Crusher

Soul Crusher
Requirements
Alignment:
Any Evil
Base Attack Bonus: +8
Skills: Knowledge (the Planes) 6 Ranks
Feats: Weapon Focus (Great Sword), Iron Will
Special: Must Overcome Soul Crusher in a Test fo Wills (pure Roleplaying goodness)

To anyone without levels in the Soul Crusher's Battle Scion class the sword fuctions as a +2 Great Sword

Class Level & Abilities Gained
-------- +3 on Charisma Checks with Evil Outsiders
1st Level Unholy Weapon
2nd Level Spell Resistance 5
3rd Level Enhancement Bonus +3
4th Level Frightening Presence
5th Level Spell Resistance 10
6th Level Enhancement Bonus +4
7th Level Keen Weapon
8th Level Spell Resistance 15
9th Level Bind Celestial
10th Level Enhancement Bonus +5

It's a prestige class the requirements of which are entirely dependant on the sword it exists to power up. It basiclly has lots of bonus feats and the sword gets more powerful....

..Also Ashram was most definetly evil sure he had honor, (the lawful part) but he was cruel, ruthless, and far from saintly.... he's Lawful Evil but not in the Worshipping dark gods going to end the universe kinda way though.
