[Recruiting Fresh Again!] The Old School: 1e AD&D

I'm not sure how to generate the 3d6 six times and then neaten it up so it doesn't flood the post. Example below.

I was just illustrating an example. The above is not what he asked me to do; the EnWorld die roller can't produce what he wants.

As it turns out, IC is back up... or at least I can access it from home. Go fig.

Str: 14
Int: 18
Wis: 13
Dex: 18
Con: 14
Cha: 13

Oooh... Aw, wait. I wanted to play an Assassin, but cannot as the Paladin would not associate with me and the party splits. Otherwise, I'd totally be a Lawful Evil Human (Maybe half-orc, haven't decided if I want to dual class or not) Assassin or Fighter/Assassin. What say ye, @InVinoVeritas ?

Ghost cat: Lidia-druid

Me-Austin H. - Cleric

Thondor-Amarid-Paladin

Darkwolf71-Zhantain-Ranger

Duece Traveler-Sgt Stubbs Silverhamme-fighter

polterghost-Maruial "Forestkin" Afalines-fighter wizard

Rhun- Turthain-Fighter Wizard Thief

I think that is all of the active characters

Zhantain and Maruial are only half-around, so what I've been doing is popping characters in and out of existence as they appear. You're welcome to join, Herobizkit. Note that because there is a paladin in the party, he won't welcome any evil characters. I'd recommend against it.

Those are fine scores, whatever you choose, you'll do well.

This is true. The difference in having a paladin is that all potential evil 'short-term allies' have big glowing signs around their neck that say "this is a bad idea, I'm evil!"

Ah detect evil, I should make use of that.

Speaking of, can I get a sense from the 'approaching' thing (swarm of insects/whatever) as to its evilness or am I too busy in combat?

Is the thread title true? Are you really recruiting for 1st edition? If so, sign me up! I wanna play a half-orc druid/assassin!

...

Not really, but that would be a cool concept. I'd probably go with magic-user or cleric.

BLame the poor paladin...but the truth is, most good aligned PCs probably wouldn't accept an evil ally into their midst. :)
PHB said:
Lawful Evil: Creatures of this alignment are great respecters of laws and strict order, but life, beauty, truth, freedom and the like are held as valueless, or at least scorned. By adhering to stringent discipline, those of lawful evil alignment hope to impose their yoke upon the world.
DMG said:
DMG: LAWFUL EVIL: Obviously, all order is not good, nor are all laws beneficial. Lawful evil creatures consider order as the meons by which each group is properly placed in the cosmos, from lowest to highest, strongest first, weakest last. Good is seen as an excuse to promote the mediocrity of the whole and suppress the better and more capable, while lawful evilness allows each group to structure itself and fix its place as compared to others, serving the stronger but being served by the weaker.

To me, a Lawful Evil character recognizes his place in the 'pecking order' of an organized group, but always strives to be on 'top'. If he can't, then he falls in line. A good and capable leader keeps a LE character in check.

DMG said:
Thus, alignment describes the world view of creatures and helps to define what their actions, reactions, and purposes will be. It likewise causes a player character to choose an ethos which is appropriate to his or her profession, and alignment also aids players in the definition and role approach of their respective game personae.

And most characters can change alignment during the course of the game without losing character powers, including the Assassin.

We could throw Dragonlance in here, too, but bottom line... I'm still making a Dwarf Thief.
