Regeneration: balance question...

Its overpowered if you think of it as invulnerablility.
characters (and monsters) can still be killed by things other than damage.

For instance if you Disintagrage or slay living on a troll it is dead. without having taken any damage to regenerate.

by the same token, an earth elemental could bury the troll, suffocating and killing it, regeneration not withstanding (smarter creatures might just choke it to death when it is unconsious).

Only today can I picture that thread. But then we'd have great ideas and and put the Tarrasque in jeopardy of being overused. We'll eventually lead to the formation of the Tarrasque version of BADD.

Overused? OVERUSED!?! Whoa! You are not about to tell me that some DM actually inserted the Tarrasque into a campaign, and his players defeated it, are you?

I hate regeneration. I think all creatures should constantly take 5 points of damage per round that they simply exist.

Actually, that reminds me of my house rule on Magmen. Just being on a normal material plane causes them 2D10 points of cold damage every round, and they have to make a Will save DC 15 to do anything but stand there and say "I'm sooooo cold!!"


Of course, they still deal heat damage to everything around them.
