'Registered User' vs. 'Member'?

I'm just trying to understand the distinction.

Looks like 'Member' is the default title for Community Supporters...

Registered Users don't have access to Private Mail. Or at least they didn't used to (it was for Community Supporters only I think) and I wasn't able to use it on the new boards. There were other features, like Search, that were similarly limited, I think. Perhaps the Members are Community Supporters?

BTW, what is the Buddy/Ignore List for? As far as I could work out, it just allows you to note who you like and don't like.

If it works like other boards, anyone on your Ignore List will not have their posts visible to you by default. There will be a line where their post should be, and their name, but no post text.
