I think it's still a valid discussion, since almsot no one has yet completed their registration experience (even all that's happened thus far has been uniformly bad)/.
I completed mine last night

. I would think that a gaming community as rich as Enworld would have some online database people somewhere in it whom can explain the massive task Gencon has to do to get us to buy events. As I said in the last forum, I'm frustrated (or was) with all of you, but the technology simply just doesn't exist that can make this go smoothly. You're tlaking about creating a remote database that handle 1000s of people manipulating it at one time. and you want it to remain accurate. Not even amazon, the most sophicated online database can handle this (as they sometimes have errors without rushes).
This has been my time line
2:50 p.m. found out system was live and signed on.
2: 59

.m. none of the add to cart cgi was working yet.
3 to 5 p.m. attempted to add items to cart with many errors consisting of database breakdowns to breakdowns in the script writing to just website crashes. The website was taken down twice during this period to secure stablity.
5:30 added first item to cart, Iron Dungeon Master.
6:30 p.m. The CGI programing of the site looked like it was working good at this point. Dont waits but the website no longer gave me errors or crashed.
6:45 p.m. all of my tier one items were added to the site (didn't get round robin gaming though

)
7:15 p.m. decided to leave work and try my tier 2 stuff when i got home
8:15 pm. found out the site went down for database maintainence (for which i'm upset about because i would have liked to have more notice)
9:30 p.m. After checking every 15 minutes, the site went back up around this time, i could check my cart but nothing else.
10 p.m. checked again and it wasa down again. Couldnt even sign on
11:30 checked again and it was up and allowed me to check cart and check out. It has remained up since, allowing you to atleast check out.
