Replying to PMs, especially from moderators

I got a PM from a moderator, and I realized I couldn't reply. I figure this a Community Supporter thing (accept non-Paypal sources of money!). However, it would seem to me that if a moderator sends a message, the poster should be able to respond to it, regardless of being a supporter or not. Any chance there's a hack for this out there?

In the interim, would it be practical for you to use the moderator email addresses here in this forum to communicate back to them?

(I had the reverse problem recently, when someone emailed me via the ENworld email feature and I couldn't email them back because their registered email here was out of date, so I had to send them a PM!)

Incidentally, some people have used the 'profile visitor messages' to respond to PMs, and that isn't a great idea since the profile visitor messages are public.
