Add-on:
I did let the gnome illusionist build a small brass chicken out of parts he scavenged during the course of many adventures. It has some miserable stats, like e.g. a familiar
It can occasionally breath a small ray of fire in melee but has no other attacks. It seems to be semiintelligent when it comes to movement, e.g. it follows the wizard, but it has no meaningful way to communicate.
It sometimes sets things on fire (which is very funny for me, especially it scorches somebodies trousers)
because its energy source is some glass orb filled with fire essence from the elemental plane of fire.
It is resistant to nonmagic attacks and can be healed by a mending spell.
It provides no real advantage for the party, and it unbalances nothing.
