"Wise counsel indeed friend Norbac. We've been very lucky so far, but unless we all convert to the god of luck I think it is time to be careful instead. Hopefully, the machines will be vulnerable soon."

As the day comes, most of the humanoids (including the giants) start bedding down, while the human and demihuman mercenaries start work on the various siege engines… but they are not working that hard or being that diligent in their watches. A screening force of the Goblin Warge rides – and something else, specks of flying creatures that can barely be made out so high are they in the air – are providing the Orc Army with some pickets. Otherwise the camps don’t seem too worried. Around the fort, the three heroes can see Orcs and other humanoids shouting, yelling and taunting the occupants of the Bright Tower, but they are making no moves to come within any kind of bow or catapult shot…

Around them, most of the other people are paying them no mind at all. The day slowly passes on without any fighting… yet

"Well, this finaley shud be ubbout ter start" says Norbac, as the sun slowly descends. "Are ya twuu ready?"

[ooc: The waiting is killing me]

"Yes, I think we better get started. Do you think we might be able to rig a few of these seige engins to burst into flame with the alchemist's fire? I think I can set the traps if we can get a little time with the machines."

Meanwhile, some miles away, Fiona Wyldheart and Kimble Hopkins have made their camp near where the Wearbears have set their base camp – far enough way to observe the Orc Army, but far outside their pickets of Goblin Warge Riders. While Fiona and Kimble have joined the Werebears in the fight again the Orcs, they are not completely accepted by the shy lycanthropes. For however imposing they may appear, they are a simple peaceful people who shy away from the other races, never being overly comfortable around them (and most other good folk fear them, simply for the mistaken belief that their nature is like that of the werewolf or rat). Fiona has lived near the community of Beltander for a number of years, but even she has never been completely accepted by them. Kimble has been studying the seven ‘men’ for a time – they are big, powerful built for humans, wearing soft leathers and moccasins. Even the youngest of them has a thick beard, braided hair and carry large heavy axes.

The only one that has spoken to the pair is one Rulf Silverclaw, one of the largest humans either has ever meet, with clear blue eyes and yellow hair. He has told you that there is a small group of spies within the Orc Army whom they might be able to contact and work with if the Goblin Pickets are not as vigilant as they are right now. “What plans might ye have? We would like nothing better then to wade into that evil lot and cut them down with our bare claws and teeth, but it would serve no purpose but to be killed iffin we did.

"Meeb don´t know, it´s ya da wun dat does dem stuff. If ya´re goin' ter try, jus' be careful."

Norbac looks around, making sure nobody´s near and touches Verrick´s armor while praying in a voice as soft he can: "May Trithereon protect you". As usual, his voice becomes more confident and articulate when he´s casting a spell.

[cast Magic Vestment on Verrick´s armor: +1 to AC for 6 hours. I´m doing this near sundown, so I´m sure it´ll last enough for the upcoming battle]

Fiona

“While Kooga is more direct as well, I prefer to surprise them. Orcs are strong fighters, not as strong as you, but they are also many in number. The wood elves of Welkwood are masters of ambush and they have vast experience fighting these enemies of nature. If we can surprise them, out chances will surely increase. Your claws and teeth will soon enough get a taste of orc blood either way,” Fiona replies, her voice carrying both sadness and ferocity.

Kimble is lost in thought as he studies their adversaries. He looks at Rulf and scratches his chin. "Well I had been most interested in those ogres and the hill giants that they travel with, but those seige engines seem to be burried deep within thier ranks. If we try to connect with the other group, it will prove to be difficult making our way past the lot of them. Plus, we don't know where they're even located at the moment."

The halfling goes back to his thought process while scanning the forces that they're up against. He is looking for any sign of other halflings, not enslaved by the enemy.

OOC:
Would Kimble be able to discern any possible way to infiltrate the group and make his way towards the catapults and other seige engines?

Braggi sat sullenly amidst the enemy, trying but unable to get the thought of dwarves operating in a goblinoid army out of his mind. He could still see them in his mind's-eye and the sight was disturbing. He yearned to find these renegades, unlimber his waraxe and commence slaughtering them like they unworthies that they were. Their plan however required him to be patient and more subtle that he was used to. He couldn't help but wonder what role Verrick and Norbac wanted him to play in the upcoming activities.

"So, the plan is ta try to rig some o' these machines ta burn up when they're used?" he asked, breaking his long silence.
