Here's the thing, the only book I currently own is Ultimate Rifts. I had a bunch more which I gave away when I moved a few years ago. That said, I don't mind if you want to use the occasional item or spell from another book, but I'd prefer you each choose your OCC and skills from the main book. I'm willing to be flexible, but it may require a bit of effort on your part to get me the info I need.
Let me take a moment to elaborate upon my philosophy for GMing Rifts. There is a lot of wild stuff out there. That is part of what makes this game one of my favorites so I want to retain that. But there is the potential for some characters to eclipse others in combat too easily in this system and that creates the perception that certain concepts are weak. That is something I will actively try to avoid through whatever methods I see fit. I want every OCC to have the potential to contribute something useful. It is easy to create a combat powerhouse in Rifts (just play a glitter boy!), but let me remind you the CS and other organizations/monsters have enough resources at their disposal to do you in no matter how powerful you are if you start resorting to combat at every turn. Part of surviving Rifts Earth is knowing when to run away.
So it looks like there is a decent number of folk interested. Let's go ahead and start with character creation. Characters start at 1st level. Use your EN World screen name and roll on invisible castle. Roll 3d6 for each attribute in order, IQ, ME, MA, PS, PP, PE, PB, and Spd. Add 1d6 to any attribute that comes up 16, 17, or 18. You may add one more 1d6 if the first d6 comes up a '6' but 2d6 is the max you can add to an exceptional attribute. Use your attributes to guide your decisions about character creation. If you have a low PS and PE, but want to play a combat role, think about a 'borg, a juicer, or robot pilot. However, you don't have to be limited by attributes. If you want to play a character of a particular OCC and don't have the required minimum, you may instead boost that attribute to the required minimum. Select your OCC from the main rulebook. If you wish to play an OCC from another book, I will need to take a look at it first. I have some friends who have all the books, but it might take me a while to get a hold of it unless you can get me the information.
When creating your character, please link to all rolls regarding attribute adjustments for OCC, starting credits, and the like. Also, please show your work in parentheses including where each bonus came from.
Here is a sample of how to roll up the
attributes. In this case, Spd is exceptional so I would add 1d6 to that and if that roll came up a '6' I would add 1d6 once more.
