Tough but not broken, handy, and sometimes inconvenient, especially when you want your ring-of-blades protected character to aid another ally. :heh:

Kind regards

Cleric and Warmage 2

1min/lev

Basically creates a ring of blades that do slashing damage to everyone within 5 feet per round. The spell is self only, but moves with the caster. You cannot willingly dismiss it. But it does 1d6+1 per caster level (max +10).

If you are good the blades are cold iron, not sure about neutral or evil caster.

(from the errata) The blades do damage at the end of your turn including the round in which you cast it.

Certainly sounds like it would be a pain for your allies for try and stabilize you if you got dropped < 0. And, it wouldnt do any good against someone grappling you, but other than that seems slightly handy. Definately not overpowered at all.
is there a ref save to avoid the dmg or is it automatic?

I believe it's automatic. And I think the material of the blades actually depends on your lawful/chaotic component. Either cold iron or silver, for your demon- or devil-dicing pleasure. The "cleric" in my game (actually a homebrew class but it uses the cleric list) just got this spell and is really looking forward to using it since he's not much good in melee.

We HATE that spell in my group. Our overly chaotic cleric got us in a heap of trouble in Sharn by casting that spell, and then casting it again when we were in jail. (It's not dismissable either, IIRC.)

Isnt it a bit stronger than FireShield ? Fire shield does give "improved evasion", but you must be hit to do the damage. This spell covers 8 squares and lasts 1min/lvl, while Fireshield is 1rnd/lvl.
Seems a bit strong for a cleric spell and a bit low for Warmage.

Ouch, good thing the blades do thier damage when you end your turn. otherwise your friends will be diced as bad, if not worse than your foes.
