Rings of Power is Back [+] Appreciation

I agree with this in general about RoP, in that I feel like it has both too many characters and too few. I can't imagine doing without any of the main characters we have, because I think they're all written so well and the actors are killing it, so I really have no suggestions or wishes there. However, I feel like the show would be even stronger with the texture that more second- and third-tier speaking parts would provide.

That said: as predicted, Celebrimbor's final moments were heart-wrenching. Initially, I wasn't sold on Charles Edwards in this role; his performance seemed very hobbit-like. But this season? Out of the park.

Celebrimbor and the Sauron actor did great.

Kinda want to see some Dwarves in D&D as well.

Recently had it pointed out to me that at the end of season 1, when Galadriel, Elrond and whoever else are at Celebrimbor's forge, there's an overhead shot where the shadow of a chain falls in such a way that Celebrimbor looks like he's chained.

On a separate note, I was really glad to see Arondir back for the last episode. Presumably healed.

He’s a great character that gets into the thick of things without any of the smugness that comes from Legolas style of elf. In fact I think most of the elves in this lack the smugness that we saw in the various Mirkwood elves from the films.

Celebrimbor has it a little at the start but we see it ripped cruelly away. Galadriel is too driven to be smug, Elrond too kind to be smug, even Gil Galad is more worried than smug, particularly as the series progresses. There is a sense of gravity to all the elves that I prefer to the way they were sometimes portrayed in the films.

Every time Arondir shoots an arrow at someone it feels like he’s doing it to save someone he cares about. Legolas was just playing a game/showing off.

Ismael Cruz Cordova had a powerful romantic smoulder in season 1, so I missed that this season. Very curious to see what they do with him next.

Overall, really enjoyed this season. Sure it has some warts, but overall really enjoyable watch.
