I’m not saying it’s primarily auxiliary of other things (though it is of course useful for such purposes). I’m saying that “gain of knowledge” is due to the discipline’s ability to describe things our brains can’t intuit. If we could intuit those things, we wouldn’t need mathematics to gain knowledge of them.Maybe I misunderstand you, but the primary focus of math is math itself, or gain of knowledge. Not as an auxiliary for other things.
The knowledge gained might be used as auxiliary for other science though.
