Role-playing help - Stupid, Uncharismatic but Wise

Hmm ... sounds like he might get along with my half-orc barbarian.

Low intelligence means you probably don't value the written word, talky men and their silly book magic. If you're feeling brave you could even play him as suspicious of written language. That writing down the word is taboo and can cause bad juju.

Charisma means more than just how you look. You probably won't win any debates any time soon. Why use words to convince people when your actions speak so much louder? You could try scaring and bluffing the goblin into telling you where the traps are or you could break his arm.

However, you're very wise. You are aware of your surroundings, can intuit how some things work, and probably can offer deep advice on moral quandaries.

Examples from media would be Fezzik (Princess Bride), Steiner (FF9), and Mongo (Blazing Saddles).

Honestly even at a 6 your character would hardly be distinguishable from "average" when it comes to how he acts. With 6 the modifier is -2 which is 10%. So he is, at least in game terms, only 10% less inteligent or charismatic than normal. In real life that might equate to a whole letter grade difference on a report card and a note to parents saying "does not play well with others". I don't think that means he is a full on mouth breather who has trouble stringing 3 words together, more beast than man with a penchant for rolling in his own filth. If anything you should play up his wisdom and if you want to bring his other factors in make him forgetful and maybe rude or snippy.

Thewn again, 6 is niot such an abyssal score. My guesstimate is that rolling 3d6, about 15% of the population has a 6 or lower. This is nor an imbecile (that would be 3 or 4).

I get the impression that when making decisions, he'd often be able to say "That's a good idea" or "That's not a good idea" and be right on the money, but be unable to articulate why.

It's a shame you chose to play a cleric of war, because this guy would make an awesome druid. relying on instinct and 'common sense', getting on better with the beasts due to his magic making communication with them actually work.
