RotK speculations (SPOILERS)

Does he get carried away while doing a victory dance?

That's pretty much it.

'But Gollum, dancing like a mad thing, held aloft the ring, a finger still thrust within its circle. It shone now as if verily it was wrought of living fire. "Precious, precious, precious!" Gollum cired. "My Precious! O my Precious!" And with that, even as his eyes were lifted up to gloat on his prize, he stepped too far, toppled, wavered for a moment on the brink, and then with a shriek he fell. Out of the depths came his last wail Precious, and he was gone.'

The entire Mount Doom sequence, if done properly (and I have high hopes of PJ after the first two films), should be worth the price of admission.

I think the reunion between Glimi, Legloas and Aragorn and Merry / Pippen will be one of, perhaps the first scene. There's some great dialog in the book (particurlary Glimi and Legolas' reactions) , which could be used rather easily for the movie.

One other thing I noted in TTT is that Eomer gives Aragorn his own horse, who is brought from the north by the Dundian and the sons of Elrond in the book... so I seriously doubt more than one person will deliver him the sword (no more elves or Dundian)... Arwen has been my guess about that since the first movie, though seeing her depart in TTT for the grey heavens I'm not so sure anymore. She's still my first guess, simpley because I don't know if they can bring him the sword any other way without introducing someone new (Bilbo? Elrond?).

In a TV interview Miranda Otto said RotK was her favourite film because she got to kill the Witch King. (Actually she said "the king of the witches", but I'll forgive her mistake 'cause she is HOT).

He does quake a lot during the paths of the dead.

I'm betting that they ditch the meeting with Ghan-buri-ghan (or whatever his name is) of the hill people, and let the Dead do most of the work when taking the ships of the corsairs.

Actually I think the Woses will be in the RotK. As I recall there being talk that a famous NZ Maori actor would play the part of Ghan-buri-ghan.

I think there will be a Palantir scene with Aragorn, arrayed as the heir of Isildur and Anarion, challenging Sauron. This scene could represent Aragorn accepting his responsibilities and showing that he is tough mentally as he is physically.

I hope the Woses are in the next film, in addition to the Shagrat and Ugluk.

I think that we will see a scene of Frodo having been beaten by the orcs and Sam's rage.

Shelob should be as scary as the Balrog. The last child of Ungoliant MUST be visually impressive.

Perhaps Eowyn and Faramir marry, but the tone of the love is somewhat different. It should be noted in the books that Eowyn rides into battle seeking death not victory. Possibly it is Faramir who uses some of the words Aragorn uses in the books to Eomer to convince here a brave life can be as valuable as a brave death.

I hope we see the skeleton of Eorl's son Baldor, clad in armor, having collapsed hacking at the door of the Paths of the Dead.

We will see Shelob take down Frodo and Sam picking up Sting and going into a rage and kicking her butt and then taking the ring and kicking butt over all the orcs that capture Frodo. And of course using the phial of Galadriel to "be a light in dark places"

(when Sam kicks butt is my favorite part of the whole series.) :)

We will see Saruman cast down before Gandalf, like in the book. Wormtongue will lose the Palantir and then Saruman will berate him and he will snap and kill Saruman and then one of the good guys will take him out as he flees.

We will see Aragorn and the Paths of the Dead and I believe it will be Arwen who brings him the sword.

We will see Aragorn confront Sauron through the Palantir and have a virtual showdown of wills through it. I have already heard rumors that PJ plans on physically showing Sauron in the third movie and this would be a perfect place to do so.

We will see Eowyn and Merry kill the Witch King of Angmar

We will see Gandalf and Pippin and the whole Denethor incident and the great battle of Pelennor fields.

Then we will see them all approach the black gate and face the mouth of Sauron and the armies of Sauron and the fight will begin. Things will look bleak for the heroes and then we will skip back to Sam and Frodo and Gollum at Mt. Doom. Frodo and gollum will struggle and then Gollum falls in and the ring is destroyed.

We will jump back to the battle and as soon as the ring is destroyed the tide will turn, evil loses and Sauron is destroyed in some impressive pyrotechnics.

Then there will probably be about 20 minutes or more of wrapup showing the main characters saying goodbye and the hobbits going back to the Shire. Then probably a bit about Frodo going across the sea and then later Sam and the film will end with appropriate haunting music

That reminds me of a TV interview before FotR was released when Orlando Bloom described Legolas as an assassin, and gave a number of purists heart attacks. As a friend said after seeing the movie, "If I could shoot people like that, I'd call myself an assassin too." :)

My current theory is besed on the look that Arwen gives Elrond as she departs Rivendell... there's clearly something funny going one.

My guess is that she's taken the shards of Narsil and is on her way to Lorien to have them reforged.

I will be very disappointed if we don't see Anduril in RotK.
