Rouge beguiler or ninja

First four paragraphs can be skipped, it is just me explaining what I want to achieve. The last paragraph is me asking for help :)

I quite like the idea of a character with 'just the right tools for the job' so a wizard seems very fun to me. Our group does not have someone with trap finding abilities, so I need to pick a class that dips into that (Though I think the skill points, and starting with more hit die are quite nice).

The way I wanted to progress this character, was give him eidetic spellcaster. Then later pick the Practiced Spellcaster feat to raise my caster level back by that two level dip (I can deal with the lost spells per day).

I was going to use human paragon to make disable device a class skill permanently, so I can fill the rouge roll without becoming a class I dont quite feel like. Then later pick the obtain familiar feat along with improved familiar, and go after an imp (My DM is fine with all this, so long as he knows what's going on)

My plan was to focus more on buffing, but I like to have the ability to use any (arcane) spell, so I cant bring myself to specialise. (Planning on becoming a storm domain wizard for those extra nifty spells)

I have a bit of trouble deciding which will be more beneficial long term. The chance to get +4 AC from wisdom for ninja [we use point buy system] the extra 8 skill points of a rouge, or those spells a beguiler gets.

There Are Ways To Pick Class Skills With A Feat. So you might not need to lose the Caster level from Human Paragon.

Beguiler is Awesome, however the single level dip won't carry the Armored Mage class ability over for your Wizard spells.

Rouge's +1d6 Sneak Attack won't really be useful for your Wizard.

However, Ninja's +2 Will Save from unused Ki power and WIS to AC will definitely help you along.

My vote is Ninja if you're considering a single level dip from your 3 options.

HOWEVER...

Artificer, Factotum, Scout, Spellthief, Psychic Rogue, Dungeonscape's Ranger variant, a psionically focused Lurk and a Cleric with the Kobold Domain also have Trapfinding as a first level class ability.

And there are PrC's, but that won't grant you Trapfinding at your first level.

You can go with a classic Arcane Rogue build. Rogue1/Wiz4/UnseenSeer2. From there, more Unseen Seer is good, or some Arcane Trickster, or some Spellwarped Sniper. Those classes maintain your casting while giving you superior skill selection and synergistic class abilities. I'm partial to more USS because it is such a good class.

Also, don't do Human Paragon. Look at Able Learner in Races of Destiny. It makes all cross class skills cost one rank. That effectively makes every skill you've ever had as a class skill be a class skill for life. You can keep your search/disable skills maxed, along with UMD, social skills, sneaking skills, etc.

The cleric can find them, but disabling is a pain, the other four arnt quite my thing thanks ^_^

I did find your overview very good, might lean towards the ninja even more than the rouge now.
