RP *versus* combat? Not when I play

I don't know, that Duke's boring dinner is a place where the player's jockey for position; trade, buy, or sell; meet new contacts, friends, and enemies; find new leads; uncover parts of their character's pasts; and develop their character's personalities. This could lead to duels, rivalries, new adventures, and side adventures. It's not always action packed but can be just as interesting to players who are into that. Avoiding combat and talking can sometime advance the plotline further.

As for combat, I find the stunt system from Exalted and doing combat recaps makes the everything more roleplaying focused.
