Or if all else fails I'll pick something from my pile of ENnie entries. But I'd prefer some suggestions to see what types of books people are interested in for this.

I wouldn't mind seeing something about Holmes Basic D&D (currently $4.95 from RPGNow), Labyrinth Lord : Version 3 (currently free for download or in print from Lulu for less than $30), The Phoenix Barony (currently less than $2.00 as a PDF from Lulu, with print options for less than $9.00), the recent Loremaster PDF re-issues (scans from ICE, available for less than $10.00 each), or Questers of the Middle Realms (less than $20.00 in print from Lulu, or less than $9.00 as a PDF from RPGNow).

I am curious if non D&D books will be successful.
I was wondering that too, this being primarily a D&D and d20/OGL forum.

How about Amethyst? That way, I might not put off buying it much longer. :D And hey, it's new, it looks very cool, and seems to have gathered a lot of interest around it. Its lulu sales rank seems pretty impressive too, for a RPG supplement, AFAIK about such things.

Or should it be something a little more mainstream, perhaps. Something in Pathfinder flavour? Or Freeport? I want to suggest a thing like Interface Zero or True20 Ancients, but I know True20 is not a system everyone would have access to, and so either one could involve buying a corebook as well. :\

Er. . . what are some of those ENnie nominees you referred to, Crothian?

I have no real preference one way or another, because I'm largely in this as an excuse to look at things I otherwise wouldn't; but it would be neat to start off with some of the cheaper or even free stuff out there. I think a lot of it gets overlooked and undervalued by consumers because of the tiny price tag.

You could always read my blog!! :D

I'm sitting on a bit under 100 books right now (plus PDFs) so there is quite a bit there and more coming it.

For the first one I want to keep things a little more accessible. I think something that is contained and can be used mostly by itself. The first book shouldn't be something that one needs to read one or two other books to understand like say the Roman Vampire book that is pretty cool.

Amethyst is a possibility. Wyrd is bond (I've not heard of it so maybe), cold city I could see. Maybe something from Freeport it is something people around here are at least familiar with.

How's about that Freeport setting book that came out last year that was rules-free? I've read plenty of Freeport adventures but never the setting book.

By the way...BOOO-YAAAA

With this post I'm officially second level! :D

The Savage World of Solomon Kane costs $50. I think that it's near the high end of core book prices.
yeah, it is at the high end... but it's gorgeous and it's solomon kane:p
I figured that was worht a little extra cash:p

and like I said, that was just off the top of my head... most of the stuff on that list other than the nwod stuff is under 30

To pick a book I can either come up with the first one or we could always try a vote. I'd collect 6 titles and then we'd vote and select the most popular.
