Hope is Not a Plan by Exalted Funeral
  • SYSTEM: solo journaling
  • PRODUCT TYPE: hardcover supplements
  • DESCRIPTION: A solo journaling game of conflicting responsibilities. Your character is entrusted with millions of dollars of other people's money. You have to both please the client and turn a profit. You also have to balance co-workers needs, family life, and your own needs. Damn, is this an RPG or a diary?! You write your character’s actions in a journal. Your tools include a deck of cards, a 6-sided die, and a tumbling block tower. The tower is your capacity to handle stress and keep the project tasks straight. The die is how many cards to draw a turn. The cards point to writing prompts of events that come up (some cause you to pull from the block tower). If the tower falls before you deliver the project, you lose. Each time you start again, you can remove a card you hate from the deck (you get better at projects with experience making it easier to win). Okay, that last part is pretty slick. I like that Noble Knight considers this one a horror game. Me too.
