S2: War in Vastermarch - Completed

As Torvin rides towards Beamer, Eusebius curses the deranged paladin and launches a pair of attacks with his chain - first at Torvin, and the second at his horse.

He follows it up by moving alongside the little sorcerer and making a flurry of attacks against the armoured knight. Despite the doubt in his mind, he simply cannot afford to let anything happen to Beamer and the weapon.

[sblock=OOC]Two AoO's with spiked chain - one against Torvin and the other against the horse (in the hope that he might somehow cause the horse to throw Torvin off). Then move straight ahead ten feet and diagonally to the left five, which puts him just behind Beamer and alongside Torvin. Then a flurry of blows, unarmed, against Torvin. With luck he'll do enough damage against the paladin to undo the healing he gave him!

Of course, Eusebius still has the benefit of his Bless spell, as well as the Bull's Strength. That means his attacks are:
  • +9, 2d4+4, 20/x2 (+1 spiked chain)
  • +6/+6, 1d6+3/1d6+3, 20/x2 (unarmed flurry of blows)

Rasereit suddenly remembers fighting orcs during his time in the mountains years ago. When the orc in front of him takes a stab, Rasereit steps aside as though he knew the attack was coming. The orc ends up with with a dozen shield spikes in its back, and falls to the ground. (23, 9 damage to 19) Rasereit steps forward and swings his axe at the orc closer to the wagon. Rasereit aims for the neck, but his attack is too slow, and the orc parries it. Rasereit is strong, and he presses with all his might, hoping to nick the orc's neck with his magical waraxe... (not sure if it hits, 13, 11 damage to 3) He strafes south, putting himself a little closer to the other enemy combatants (5' step south)

Round 5 (10:35:24) (con't)

Juliana takes the potion & drinks it, curing another 2 pts dmg ( :( )

Eusebius finally acts against the suspicious Paladin(?), attacking him brutally as he rides by, then again as he reaches Beamer. (I screwed up the IC rolls somewhat, but here goes). He hits both man and beast as they ride by (for 9 & 10 pts), but his open hands deflect harmless off the man's heavy mail. Torvin seems badly hurt by this attack. "What...?!" he says. He does not attack Beamer.

Talbin slings down another orc. Razh displays his dwarven skill by striking down his two orc opponents in quick succession.

To the north, Banion is able to see the black/white figure point his finger. Eerily, several other identical figures all point the same way. Small red balls fly from their fingers, converging in place at Beamer's feet. Suddenly the halfling is engulfed in an explosion of fire. The poor woman who just handed Juliana her potion is consumed by flame and killed, as is the peasent standing south of Eusebius. Torvin is blasted off his horse, badly hurt, maybe dead under his helm. The horse he was riding (Beamer and Banion's), is killed. Another horse is also killed (Rae's), and Juliana's and Eusebius' are badly burned. They then flee in panic. (Juliana, Eusebius, Nodis and Beamer must make a reflex save dc 16 or take 22 pts dmg. Successful save means 11 dmg)

Hugh, the militia leader, backs away warily from the eerie construct who just killed his orc assailants.

Beamer sees the fire converging and dives to the side and instant before it erupts. Coughing and choking, he responds to the magical explosion by sending his own magic back at the strange orc.

He then moves into the forest to his left and hides, hoping to avoid a counter attack.

OOC:
Glitterdust centered on the nearest Tharoks DC 15 will save or be blinded.
I think the trees provide enough cover to let Beamer hide even though Tharok has seen him, but if not he will just try to take cover behind some trees.
Hide: +8
Spells remaining: 5/2/3

"Beamer, He's got duplicates! Can you get rid of them?"

ooc: I understand that there is some controversy whether you can send a seperate magic missile at each image, just to pop a bunch of them quickly, but that's how I've always played it.

Banion will target the furthest image for which he has a clear shot.

Thrown Mindblade (1d20+13=33, 1d6+1d8+3=12)
Crit confirm, additional damage (1d20+13=29, 1d6+3=6)

ooc: Yeesh, with rolls like that I sure hope I don't hit an image!

If Banion hits an image, his mindblade will remain charged and he will move 20' NW. Otherwise, charge the blade. (Do I have to say each time he reforms the blade? He always does that....)

Seeing the orc's ranks finally thinning, Ogrin once again attempts to surprise his foe, throwing caution to the wind. [SBLOCK=Rolls] No combat expertise, AC = 23. Feint DC 14; Hits AC 22; Damage 9; Sneak attack damage 6[/SBLOCK]Provided there's only one or two orcs standing at the end of the caravan train, Ogrin calls to his friend. "Razh! Help the others up front! I'll clean up the rear!"

Sorry, Slagmortar. I realize I shortchanged Beamer last round. I had read your post, but by the time I got around to making my post, Beamer didn't come up on my initiative chart, so I didn't do anything with him. I'm glad he made his save. At this point, I'll just have to assume he was distracted, trying to keep track of Torvin behind him, so he didn't get his glitterdust off on Tharok.
