S2: War in Vastermarch - Completed

OOC: Monsters union is waving a flag here. Sneak attack damage is not doubled by crits. Not that I think it matters. :-)

ooc: those darn unionists! can't even take extra sneak attack damage! Sorry, reused the same IC roll in my haste.
Extra damage from the crit is 5, not 15.

Round 6 (10:35:30)

Ogrin strikes down another orc. There are only a couple left standing. One has already fled, and is visible running down the road away from the party. Ogrin shouts at Razh to help out in front.

Banion hurls his blade, swishing through the brush and trees to strike a black/white spellcaster. The figure winks out of existance - just an image, but now one fewer of them.

Beamer moves into the woods to gain some concealment himself, and sends a sparkling shower down on the enemy spellcaster. Tharok himself seems unaffected by this, but the zombie and three poor orcs, who were just beginning to be able to see again, are all blinded anew.

Nodis' constructs clear the field of orcs to the south. Nodis himself is unable to see the spellcaster, through the horses and trees. He moves up to get a line of sight (?).

Lothar dashes into the forest to the East. He moves full speed, but has a pronounced limp. (speed 20') He almost runs headlong into an orc. It turns out a thin line of them are cutting their way through the forest towards the party. Lothar notices it too late. It slashes at him with its falchion, but the combat is lost in the woods. At this point no one can really follow it except for Talbin.

Eusebius survives the fireball and immediately moves to Juliana, bringing her back to consciousness.

Does Talbin attack one of the new orcs? His prior target was killed by a construct.

If Banion hits an image, his mindblade will remain charged and he will move 20' NW.

ooc: Could you update Banions position to 3 squares (20') NW of his current position? I don't think the map reflects his movement.

Sure thing.

And how about this 'control sound' ability. If Nodis is able to do this as a readied action, would it prevent a spell with the verbal component from being cast?

Control Sound

Seems like it would work as a (somewhat defective) silence spell, so yeah, that ought to work.

Round 6:

"Nice one, mate!" Rasereit shouts to Ogrin as he fells another orc. The red-haired scoundrel grins and spins around, just in time to see Lothar make a break for the woods. "Oh yeah, tha's great! Run 'ome, ye worm!" Rasereit doesn't watch long enough to see Lothar get attacked. Razh hops over the ogre corpses and charges forward, as fast as he can. Even with his heavy breastplate, the dwarf moves with great speed and agility, flying past the commoners, Eusebius and company, and leaping over Juliana's fallen form, to come to a sudden halt right in front of Banion. "Oi, need some 'elp?" he breathes, panting from his dash. He crouches, his waraxe and his vicious shield at the ready, and laughs maniacally at his new foes.

OOC: 120' of movement available, let's put him just N of Banion.

"That guy!" Banion points out Tharok, "Get him!"

ooc: Banion's actual position, or where the B is on the last map? See above as to why they are different...

ooc: Yes, I was less than clear in my post; assume Nodis moves looking for a clear line of sight to the orc spellcaster, which I presume shouldn't be that dificult since he could cast fireball through the trees and such, so there must be at least one clear path to him.

You may want to adjudicate, though, that I have to hear him speaking instead of seeing him (or both) given how the power works.

[sblock=Control sound]
Psychokinesis [Sonic]
Level: Psion/wilder 2
Display: Auditory; see text
Manifesting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./ level)
Target: One sound or mixture of related sounds
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 min./level; see text
Saving Throw: None
Power Resistance: No
Power Points: 3

You shape and alter existing sounds. You can target one sound, such as a person speaking or singing, or a group of related sounds, such as the patter of many raindrops or the tramp of soldiers passing by. A sound as quiet as a snapping finger can be controlled. You can substitute any sound you have heard for the target sound. If you attempt to exactly duplicate the voice of a specific individual, or an inherently terrifying sound (such as a dragon’s roar), you must succeed on a Bluff check with a +5 circumstance bonus opposed by the intended listener’s Sense Motive check to avoid arousing suspicion.

You can entirely muffle a noise or magnify a sound to such loudness that it drowns out all other conversation in the immediate area. In this way, you can provide yourself or any with a +4 circumstance bonus on Move Silently and Listen checks.

Alternatively, you can use up the power in an instant. You do this by modulating a sound into a one-time destructive impetus that shatters nonmagical/nonpsionic, unattended objects of crystal, glass, ceramics, or porcelain (vials, bottles, flasks, jugs, mirrors, and so forth) in the area. [/sblock]

The power's range is Medium (150 feet for Nodis) so that shouldn't be a problem.
