S2: War in Vastermarch - Completed

If no one feels up to intimidating Tharok, Banion will wait until a private moment. (He'll ask the others to make sure no one is about."

"Mr. Tharok, Sir. I know I'm not very intimidating, being little and all. However, if you don't restore my vision I'm going to start cutting off your fingers one at a time until you change your mind."

"Ah, you mean like when we caught that lizardman that didn't want to tell us where the tribe's treasure was?" says Nodis.

(Nodis can't intimidate very much, but he can Bluff (though not very well now, just a total of 11) In any case, it may be enough to grant Banion an aid another bonus to his own check))

"My being blind is of no particular value to you sir. Removing your curse will cause me to rapidly lose interest in you."

ooc: I hate the intimidate rules. Intimidate should be for pre-violent or non-violent encounters. When you have someone obviously within your power because you've just captured them in battle, how intimidating you are should be besides the point.

Beamer has an idea. "Banion, he's not listening to you. I'll go get Johnny Irons. I'll send him over, but I'm not coming back to watch him work." Beamer exits the company of Tharok. A few moments later, a burly man with greasy black hair comes in. Coarse dark hair cover his arms and he carries a worn belt looped over his arm. In a deep, gruff voice, he says, "What's the problem? The halfling runt said you needed some help with a ... negotiation. Ah, I see. A half orc who needs to release a blinding spell." Turning his cold stare on Nodis, he says, "I needs two figs and two mice." He then turns his stare back on Tharok. "Now, those figs could be a nice snack for you and I when he gets back, if you let this spell up. Or I may have to put them to other purposes. Which will it be?"

OOC:
Bluff +13. Go outside out of ear shot and cast Alter Self to turn into a human matching the description above. Return - Disguise +15, Bluff +13, Intimidate +5.

The acolyte at the temple seems a bit dubious about Juliana's assertion that Torvin is under dark influences. "He's a Paladin. He's immune to dark influences. He'll be healed in the morning, then the priest will talk to him." Juliana's healing isn't under his jurisdiction. "Captain Carter comes by right after prayer and coordinates the healing of military personelle. I presume that's what you are. You need to talk to him. There's more healing needed than we have available."
"I will take healing up with Captain Carter then," Juliana says. "However, I recomend you have Father Eusebius there with you. He was charged with finding Torvin."

Juliana will find Eusebius to let him know about Torvin, and then return to wait for Captain Carter. She will meditate while she waits (regain focus, and rest).

OOC: Wheel of Time - Juilin the thief catcher uses the ambiguous threat in similar circumstances. I hope it works as well. :heh:

Edit: Actually, now that I look it up, he used "salt and cooking oil," but when asked later what he was going to do with it mentioned another time where he sent for a basket of figs and some mice.

Tharok closes his eyes briefly, concentrating, and Banion finds himself able to see again. Juliana show up again & tells Eusebius what's going on at the temple.

OOC: I suppose it's a moot point now, but Razh has +7 intimidate.

Also, I'm pretty sure Razh's warhorse didn't flee during the battle.

Oh, and before we left the battle field, did we spend any time looting?

Rasereit, having collected his weapons from the commoners he loaned them to, hangs with Ogrin for the most part. He tries to talk with the commoners about fighting orcs and giants effectively, and he's even willing to train some people to fight, if they're interested.

Eusebius nods curtly as Tharok dismisses the blindness spell. When Juliana arrives, he listens to what she has to say, then indicates to his original companions to step apart with him. Turning his back on Tharok, who is still guarded by Johnny Irons and the others, he says quietly, "Find out what you can about the weapon. I must go to the Temple. Apart from anything else, I am under judgement for having struck a paladin of the Bright One. But we cannot allow Torvin to roam free while there is still doubt about his ... wellbeing."

He looks at Banion and says, "Take care of Beamer, and under no circumstances allow anyone to examine the weapon. I have no doubt that our next step must be to find a way to destroy it."

"Oh, one more thing. You have more than earned the reward I promised you when we began this venture. Banion, if you have that pouch I gave you? We'll divide it up now - for we may have individual need of funds."

"Boog left before I could give him his share. I suggest that we split it five ways, and I'll keep Boog's share to cover party expenses. That means that each of us takes 400 gp. I'm only sorry it could not be more, my friends."

Taking the pouch Banion proffers, Eusebius counts out the shares and gives them to each. He gives Beamer's share to Banion to pass on when the spellcaster returns.

[sblock=OOC]Keeping that 400 gp for Boog seems the fairest way at the moment. I just thought it'd be worth disbursing the funds to the original Aif Jenkins party so as to reduce confusion later. If we can't get in contact with Boog (El Jefe) then that's another 100 gp to each of us.[/sblock]

"Thank you. That blindness thing was making me edgy."

We turn Tharok over to the authorities. We specifically advise them that he is a spellcaster and a significant escape risk.

Banion agrees to stick with Beamer, and to give him his share of the money.
