S2: War in Vastermarch - Completed

"Tell me what's going on out there."

"Well, there's an awful lot of orcs out there, with minotaurs and ogres and smelly two headed ogres, pillaging and doing the kind of orky things orcs do" says Nodis.

Eusebius is silent at first, content to let the others speak. Then he takes a deep breath, holds and releases it, and squares his shoulders, unwilling to shirk even this burden.

Stepping forward he says, "Captain Carter, benedicite! I am Father ... I am Eusebius, monk and cleric of Hyrag. The High Priest sent me to find Torvin Arkenthrasher. As you can see," - he indicates the body in the wagon - "I found him. Unfortunately, he fell in the battle which followed, when my colleagues and I were set upon by a contingent of the orc army which has been ravaging this place."

His voice is once again made harsh by the control he exercises.

"We met up with another group just before the orcs fell upon us. They were escorting refugees towards Braeholl. They can tell you their story."

"We joined forces, and defeated the enemy. Two zombies and three orcs escaped but we slew the rest, including an ettin, two ogres and a host of orcs and undead. We have captured the leader of the army, one Tharok by name. We intend to question him once he has regained consciousness."

"We would appreciate any help you can give us - food, shelter and healing are the first priorities."

"Your town needs to prepare for war, but we also require rest and healing from our battles. We will help where needed to protect the civilians, but many of us are in poor shape to fight." Juliana says.

Rasereit opens his mouth to speak, but then closes it again, thinking it better that someone else from his party talk. He doesn't like the way this human seems suspicious of a group of people who just escorted villagers to safety.

Thanks for pointing out the detail that blindness can be dispelled by the caster. I'd lost track of that. Also, Torvin Arkenthrasher is actually still alive, or wasn't dead yet, anyway. Let's assume Eusebius stablized him, but hasn't healed him back into consciousness.

"We are very lucky you were in the area when they attacked. You seem to have had more success than we have. Braeholl has not been seriously attacked. I'm surprised. I would have thought we would have been a major target." Captain Carter smiles.

"Rest here tonight. There are many refugees in the city now, but you should be able to find shelter in the military stables. You're obviously powerful warriors, and we want you fully ready again tomorrow."

"Torvin Arkenthrasher. I haven't seen him in over a year. A valliant warrior. A true leader of men. What happened to him? He looks terrible! We will bring his body to the temple of Hyrag here. It's not a large temple, but he should be able to find healing. As to this one,"
he says, taking a close look at Tharok. "I have heard of this one. The half-orc who paints half his face white, the other half black. He is their shamen, their adept. A great prize you have garnered." Carter pauses and spits on the unconscious half-orc's face. "I would have just killed him though. Can you vouch for his security tonight, or do you want us to put him in the gallows?"

OOC: Torvin's still alive? I wouldn't have even considered that was a possibility. Mind you, that's going to make Eusebius' life a bit easier. He was really beating himself up about killing the paladin.

Manz, did you really mean to have Carter offer to put Tharok in the gallows? We don't want to kill him. We do want him locked up. Mind you, we definitely don't want him to escape!

Tharok has yet to recover consciousness. That would need to be RPed. So, no, Banion is still blind. By the gallows, I meant the stockaid, I guess. Sorry.

As I understand it, some of Tharoks damage was nonlethal.

"You heal nonlethal damage at the rate of 1 hit point per hour per character level. "

It should only take an hour or two for him to be talkative again.
