S2: War in Vastermarch - Completed

The old priest's head begins to nod as he waits on Eusebius' answer to this question.

---

Poto Knezer takes the small silver dragon head in his hands, examining it carefully. He looks up at Talbin with a smile. "A bard, eh? Old Volidar Stormblade, perhaps?" he asks. "You have been sent here to help me. Are these friends of yours that you trust?" he asks, indicating Nodis and Banion.

---
Tharok grimaces. "The weapon is wanted by the Curved Blades. It is something they hide from the Raven's Scythe The curved blades help us retake our homeland, and in return, we help them secure this weapon."

"We'll have to see. Please sit down and tell me of your journey." Poto turns to the women. "Please excuse me. I have business with these men. Bring us around a pitcher, won't you Berta?"

He turns back to the adventurers and lowers his voice, as the women leave. "There are evil plots hatching amidst this orc invasion. Have you heard of the dark god Seto?"

Banion will step forward from the shadows to stand beside Talbin. He says nothing, curious to see if his 'uncle' will recognize him... if not personally, than through his resemblance to other members of his familly.

Tharok grimaces. "The weapon is wanted by the Curved Blades. It is something they hide from the Raven's Scythe The curved blades help us retake our homeland, and in return, we help them secure this weapon."
Beamer holds the cup of water slightly closer to Tharok, while moving the torch slightly away in a perverse revision of the old game Warmer-Colder. "What kind of aid to the Curved Blades provide?"

Eusebius wavers in his response to the high priest, then frowns, and answers him honestly. He has to trust someone sometime! Still, that doesn't stop him from checking once more to see that no-one else is in earshot.

"My companions are currently guarding the weapon. It is as safe as it can be in these strife-torn times, in this now-dangerous place. We must destroy it as soon as possible. I will undertake this quest."

He hesitates again, then adds, "But Father, you may not think me worthy of undertaking it. For I must tell you, it was by my hand that Torvin was struck down. I raised my hand against a paladin of the Bright One, and the shame of that eats into me. I did so because I did not know if I could trust him, and in the midst of battle it seemed that he sought to kidnap the bearer of the weapon."

"I believe this great evil must not fall into evil hands - and I am afraid that it's stain may have entered Torvin's soul."

"The curved blades have spies, weapons, soldiers, advice. Their hand is long." says Thaork.

---
Poto seems not to recognize Banion.

---
"Torvin is my old friend." says the high priest. "I'm sure you did what you thought was right. You are strong and can protect this weapon. And destroy it. There is a smithy in town. Near the militia HQ at the gates. Perhaps you could destroy the weapon there. I must continue with my rounds. I can heal Torvin carefully, just to consciousness. Then speak with him. I will have his armor and weapons taken away before then. He will be of no major threat. We will keep him here in his old cell, where he stayed when he first went through the rituals to become a Paladin. Perhaps it is best if I speak to him alone, as he may now bear you ill will. Or would you like to stay? I will do my rounds, now, healing the sick and injured. Then I will return & we will take care of Torvin."

At this, Juliana nods to the high priest and Father E, and heads out to find Captain Carter to arrange for some healing.

Eusebius smiles a trifle grimly.

"Thank you for your concern, Father, but I will be here when you revive Torvin. Although he may react with hatred to my presence, yet I must do him the courtesy of being present to face his accusations."

"And in the meantime, if my own prayers for healing may be of help to you, I would gladly accompany you on your rounds."

Talbin sits down and answres "Seto? No I have not heared that name before. We came here by boat from Orussus. After we made landfall we encountered a lot of those orcs in a town. They were pillaging and razing the whole town! Luckily we scared them off and helped the villagers as much as we could. We set up a small caravan to the fort. At the fort over there we found even more orcs. Some really nasty ones too! And a big bulking minotaur. I was lucky to have some other brave adventurers with me. We also defeated those nastied in the fortress!
After that we came to this town. On the way here we met some old friends of mine.. Brother E.. Juliana and more! After that our little caravan was attack by.. even more orcs! But this time they brought some stupid ogres with them. And they had a spellcasting orc with a painted face! They wanted some weapon but I am not sure what they emant. Anyway, after we also defeated those nasties we arrived here. They captured that painted orc, we brought him with us. And now we're here! That's the short version of our journey.. "
