S3: The Scythe of Seto (Bront Judging)[Completed]

OOC: Tunics only? No armour?

Ogres. Axes. Not good. Need keys. Bluff? Nope. Bait-and-switch? Aye.

Switching tactics, Ogrin decides to go for the key. He throws a gold coin into the corridor next to the statue as a diversion, perhaps causing the Ogres to argue whose coin it is. Hopefully they'll at least pause and investigate when they hear the clinking noise, giving him time to cut the keys off the Ogre's belt.

Just like back in Orussus during the bad old days...

OOC: Hide +11, Move Silently +10, Sleight of hand +5.

Rasereit is unable to resist looking in the mirror again. From the ground, he looks up into it first defiantly, then curiously, and then with exhaustion he stands. He briefly looks around for the chess piece which his twin wanted so badly, but can't find it. Resigned, he examines the black curtain on the wall, moving it aside and seeing what's behind it.

OOC: Low wisdom, chaotic neutral, of course he looks again. :-S

Hopefully I don't have to edit this post to say, "... he looks up into it first defiantly, then with horror as another twin materializes to finish him off."

Banion manifests his mindblade and dashes through the curtain, finding himself 20 feet away from Sangster on the South end of the circular platform. Banion remember's Sangster aka Toler from the time he first met Boog, Juliana (& Eusebius?) at the fort North of Rivensblight. Sangster looks the same, armed with long sword and small sheild, but he's glowing. Banion recognizes the distinctive glow of his friend's glitterdust spell.

Round 2
Lothar: (-9 hps. blinded until round 7)
Sangster:
Beamer (hasted until round 8)
Bear (hasted until round 8)
Banion (already acted)
Eusebius: (hasted until round 8) <--
Torvin

--------------

Ogrin tosses out a coin. It clatters and he pulls back behind the statue. He did notice hide armor underneath the ogre's tunics. The 10 foot wide corridor does make it tricky for the ogres to walk side by side.

The ogre's look back and exchange a few words. Then, by the sounds of their footfalls, Ogrin knows that the have turned back for the coin. When they get their an argument ensues. The same phrase is repeated back and forth several times. Eventually, the disagreement seems to be settled. As they turn away, the ogre with the key trails.

Ogrin moves out and tries to remove the keychain from the hook at its belt... to be continued when I have another few minutes...

Ogrin steps out and reaches for the key. Unfortunately, the ogre turns at that moment, perhaps looking for any other coins, and sees the halfling. He releases a startled shout.

Initiative
Ogre1 (front)
Ogrin (41/52 hps)
Ogre2 (rear)

The ogre in front delays, being unable to reach the halfling through his companion...

OOC: I didn't mention what weapons Ogrin had out but as I said I was going to cut the key from the belt, let's assume it's a dagger and nothing else.

Ogrin grins madly in the face of the Ogre. "Hello. Can I interest you in a short piece of steel?" He holds the blade up for the Ogre to see, then with a deft move hacks at its belly. Alas, the attack doesn't penetrate the Ogre's armour.

OOC: Dodge the nearest Ogre, Combat Expertise to move 3 points to AC, Attack (hits AC 13, miss). Ogrin has AC 23 vs the Ogre further away and 24 vs the key-bearing Ogre.

Meh. No luck with the rolls today...

Ogrin's dagger doesn't penetrate the thick hide armor underneath the ogre's dark tunic. The monster's evil eyes glint with anticipation as it raises its axe and tries to cut the halfling in half. It misses.

From behind, the other ogre shouts something repeatedly to the ogre attacking Ogrin, but can't get through to aid in the battle.

Eusebius smacks Lothar around, just as the bear is doing. Torvin continues to run towards the combat across the narrow bridge.

Round 3
Lothar falls to the floor. "Don't kill me! I surrender!" he shouts.

Sangster is running directly towards the curtain when Banion pops through. Before the halfling can react, Sangster attacks. Surely he has recognized Banion. Banion is hit a glancing blow. (6 dmg)

Round 3
Lothar: (-19 hps. blinded until round 7)
Sangster
Beamer (hasted until round 8)<--
Bear (hasted until round 8)
Banion (53/59)
Eusebius: (hasted until round 8)

OOC: Eusebius would probably have to consider Lothar's surrender seriously.

Of course, Eusebius doesn't act until after everybody else. :]
