S3: The Scythe of Seto (Bront Judging)[Completed]

"Oh, really? You're already headed that way, huh? I don't actually know him, but I've heard of him. Father Eusebius there, remember him?, he was hoping to speak with him on behalf of the Temple. They are in need of assistance from some one of Trimble's talents. We could go together, if it's ok with you.

"The temple? They need Trimble's help?" Reinert takes another swig, then lowers his voice. "Well. Trimble'd probably like that. He's a lonely bugger. Always talks my ears off when I show up. And he's got bad breath."

Beamer is hard pressed to imagine Trimble's breath could be any worse than Reinert's.

"You're welcome to come along. I could use the company. Can be a dangerous trip. But, um, what temple is that you're affiliated with again?"

Eusebius decides that this is probably his cue.

"Hyrag, the Shining One. Hello, Reinert, it's good to see that you are still hale."

"We'd be happy to travel with you - and there is safety in numbers, particularly in troubled times like this."

Remembering Reinert's defensiveness about Trimble from their last meeting, Beamer is glad to hear Reinert is willing to take them to the wizard. Momentarily that is.

Reinert was so concerned about other meeting Trimble before. Perhaps the weeks have changed him or perhaps he is some fellow wizard in disguise. Still, he did mention giving us a ride

Still, there was a better chance he could lead them to Trimble and even a betrayal was probably safer than wandering the woods without a clue about the wizard. "That would be most appreciated, and if he wants to chat, well that's something I can do. Talk is cheap, so they say. And don't worry about trouble. Rasereit is tough as nails. See over there, he's won four arm wrestling matches in a row. The other halflings are no slouches either, and Father Eusebius is as brave as they come. Yep, I wouldn't want to cross this group," he finishes with an appraising eye on Reinert.

OOC: That's right, in the conditional logic of Beamer's brain, everyone who has been out of his sight since the last time they saved his life is pretty much suspect. ;)

"'Hyrag' you say." The dwarf nods sagitiously. He sits up a little straighter and brushes some crumbs off his mail shirt. Not much comes off. What's there is mostly stained or caked on.

"Well, I'd be pleased to have you come with me. That's the five of ye, is it. And one of yous is a dwarf. Well, that'll be just fine."
---

The group sleeps in peace in the communal bunkhouse. Reinert snores, but otherwise the night passes uneventfully.

In the morning Reinert leads them out in his wagon, full of crates and barrels.

"It's a hike, I'd say. We'll have to spend one night in the forest before we reach Trimble's little tower. What did you say you wanted from him again?" Reinert asks.

How is everyone traveling? Does everyone have their own mount? There's room for one in the front of the wagon with Reinert. The forest path is narrow and rough. Figure 10 feet. What order do you travel in?

Wagons have a speed of 20'. Banion's up to 40'. He should be able to sneak along on foot off to one side and still keep up. That's his plan.

Beamer sleeps fitfully, weaking up several times during the night to check on the Scythe and to listen for screams. He breaths a few deep breaths of relief to see the sun come up. He casts a mage armor spell on himself and then is down for breakfast looking rumpled and unhappy.

He mounts up behind Rasereit as they ride off into the woods.

...and Ogrin & Eusebius are both mounted are they not? Everyone should make a spot check. Banion moves along on the side, in and out of the trees. Anyone taking the lead? The rear?

OOC: I'm not sure if Eusebius is mounted or not. Did he get his horse (or his donkey) back after S2?

Scythe of Seto; Spot check: (1d20+8=17)

Eusebius will take the lead.

Any chance Beamer has a spare Mage Armor?
