Same story, different year

werk

First Post
I am a long time gamer and I have moved around the country fairly often chasing school, my wife, and work. A result of this is that I find myself starting or looking for groups in each new home, and they usually are ok for a while, often around a year, then they fall apart. I wouldn't trade the experiences for the world. I've had some really great gaming, and met a lot of quality people.

Right now, I just cancelled a group that I started, running my own campaign in the Forgotten Realms. It went pretty well, but most of the players are students, and two of them just graduated and moved away. That's par for the course, but I don't really feel like filling the group up and continuing on as they are so far into the story. So I'm losing that group.

I play Eberron in another group full of really nice people, but they are a little too nice, and polite, and religious, with kids and wives running around, and I just don't fit in as well as I could hope. I'd love to go to a baseball game with them, but I just can't get crazy into character without feeling self-concious. They also play in very short sessions, like 2.5 hours. There was another player on the same page as I, but he is quitting the group to pursue summer work and I just don't know how long I can go it alone.

So here I am. Do I make another group, try to join a new group, continue with the nice group...what's a boy to do? Taking suggestions. Thanks.

If you're enjoying the game with the nice group, stay with the nice group until you can find/form a group that more closely matches up to you.

If you're not enjoying the nice group, I'd quit unless you're having some type of good social experiences with the people outside the game.

For me, especially as I get older, no gaming is better than bad gaming. Got too much going on to sit around a table with people I wouldn't tolerate otherwise.
