D&D 5E Sample adventure to test 5E in high level (15th) play. Any takers?

Alvin finishes sharing the divination from Lathander with the party, then peers over the railing of the ship with a pensive knot in his brow.

"Dangerous as it might be, can we just drop straight through the storm and through the gate? I mean, like fall straight at it?"

(Ender Wiggins, eat your heart out!)

The weather and the crags make that a very dangerous proposition!

@Flamestrike is the location of the color pool obvious enough to drop a clairvoyance in there? (location must either be one familiar to me or be "obvious").

Yes; you can see an olive green flickering roughly 500m from where the ship dropped you off through the rocky crags. This also seems to be the center of the local storms and disturbance in the Astral.

A nexus if you will.

There is otherwise no signs of movement or life. The Illithid ship sits motionless and lightless.

They can still ambush us before we reach the pool, so I wouldn't spend a slot on clairvoyance now. I'd say try to keep an eye for them and if we do find them maybe you can try diplomacy with your Universal Speech.

OK, 2 against.

Good thought - I was thinking I should at least give diplomacy a go, my numbers can get pretty high and it's worth at least a shot.

As preparation, I'll cast Protection from Good and Evil on myself through my staff.

Galvich says "Do you suppose the brain-eating tentacle creatures have a knack for diplomacy? I'm more than willing to try but something tells me they aren't so keen on making friends."

Sure but, sometimes, "let us through or your world will end in a matter of hours" works even on brain eating monsters (I mean, they need brains to be eaten to be around!)

Besides, I got this here "communicate with anything" ability, may as well trot it out.

As preparation, Bartholomew will also cast protection from evil (from his lyre).

(So doing that, clairvoyance is off the table for now). Shall we, carefully, venture in?
