Sat-Sun Sept 27-28, Gladiator Matches

Arkhandus

First Post
I will be running gladiator arena matches this Saturday and Sunday. The games will be at 12 noon Pacific, 3 pm Eastern. Both times, I will keep the server open for 2-3 hours max. Anyone is free to play, just be sure to give me a copy of your gladiator's character sheet when you arrive, or send it via e-mail to
mist_phantom@yahoo.com
If sent by e-mail, make sure the character sheet is just part of the message body, using the Official T13K character sheet format, as I WILL NOT OPEN ATTACHMENTS under any circumstances.
Post to this thread in advance if you expect to show up, so I can have a rough idea of how many gladiators to prepare for. If it matters, I use the 3.0 rules, though characters can be made with 3.5 rules if desired, just know that I will be using the 3.0 rules on combat and such (I am NOT wasting $90-120 for new books that I hardly need).

Note that gladiator characters are in addition to your normal allotment of 2 T13K characters, so anyone can play, even if you don't play in regular campaigns in T13K. Be sure to use the T13K Setting Guide PDF for creating your character, but note that ANY PC race from the guide is available to gladiator characters! Newly-made gladiator characters start at an Effective Character Level of 3, which means that characters with no ECL modifier (such as humans) start with 3 class levels, while characters with an ECL mod of +1 start with 2 class levels, and those with a +2 ECL mod start with 1 class level, etc. Gladiator characters begin with the equipment and coinage equal to the amount of gold listed in the DMG for a character of their level (not their ECL), thus 2,700 gold for 3rd-level characters, or 900 gold for 2nd-level characters. Gladiators of 1st-level have the average amount of gold for their class, as per the PHB. Don't worry about an elaborate background for your gladiator, just a short blurb regarding their personality and how they came to be a gladiator in the Doluhre Arena of Ulruz is sufficient. Most gladiators are slaves, though a few freemen and others do compete, rarely.

I will be in there 3 est
I can't see the latest post still so I have to looke through all the sections to see what is going on.

Well, due to insomnia again, I couldn't manage to fall asleep until somewhere between 5 and 6 am, so when I tried to get up to my alarm at 11 am, I was just too groggy and drowsy to force myself out of bed, and ended up spending almost two hours half-asleep before I realized that it was past noon and that I had a match to run......

So, I will open the server now for a bit in case anyone is still bothering to look for it......... Sorry to the 2-3 of you who might have shown up otherwise, but again, I'll open the server now for anyone who still wants to try a match.

Saturday match is finished. Ozimal Kinec and a new gladiator, the hobgoblin Castus Argentus, battled a squad of creatures from Noctus stable. The Morte Nobilis gladiators fought two small, insectoid stirges, a large zombified ogre, and a huge skeletal giant, which proved to be a good test of their prowess. Ozimal and Castus dodged many attacks during the battle, tumbling about past enemies with ease and skill to deliver powerful blows and flanking attacks.

One stirge drained a little of Castus' blood, but the gladiators destroyed both insects quickly. The undead proved more difficult, with great reach and endurance, and Castus was nearly rendered unconscious at one point. Ozimal gave Castus a healing potion, but in the end it was wasted, as Castus and Ozimal dodged all further attacks with extraordinary agility and laid waste to the undead.

For their great battle, the gladiators each received a pendant of onyx decorated with tiny rubies in a skull pattern, and eyes of ivory, hung by a length of gold chain. The pendants were valued at 700 gold apiece if the gladiators ever pawn them off. Each gladiator received 600 experience and 2 fame.

Don't forget the Sunday match!
