Savage Tide AP not intriguing me

I recall someone saying he was on CM, but had no idea what name he was using.

It's funny how the different AP's grab some people but not others.

I loved Shackled City, but Age of Worms left me cold. I liked the overall idea of Kyuss and worm-infested spawn, but the individual adventures felt flat and uninspiring to me.

Now I've read the first two adventures for Savage Tide, and I'm very keen on running them! If only my group would hurry up and finish Shackled City ...

Heh. It's a running joke over at CM. They are discussing a PbP game.


I figured it out, but I had an inside track on the conundrum. :D
 

I'm ambivalent, namely because I'm so sick and tired of pirates. Is this the one where the evil demon/god thing is trying to take over the world? Wait, no, that was the last one, no, wait, it's this one too!

Yes! That's pretty much exactly the way I feel.

I thought Shackled City was just great, but I wasn't as impressed with AoW (though I still like it). So far, Savage Tide has hooked me right away - it's exactly the type of adventure that I like.
 

I like what I have read so far. I can't say I'm thrilled once again by the "ancient evil rising to destroy/take over the world" scenario. Can't we just have mortal creatures plotting domination and ruin? Why does Demogorogon/Orcus have to get involved? Why do we need to go into demon princes and ancient rising evil.


But, Isle of Dread and pirates? Undead too? It all rocks.
I did like the first adventure....the NPCs were well done and there were a variety of situations but nothing too outlandish.
I'm thinking of running it but altering things to bring it down to earth a little more.
I've got a gestalt low magic game going so some tweaking will have to be done.

I'm excited about Savage Tides. Of course it will probably been finished in Dungeon by the time I get my one group through Age of Worms and my othewr group through my Rage of Dragons campaign.

Agreed. Between There is No Honor, Into the Wormcrawl Fissure, and Flood Season, James Jacobs is quickly becoming another favorite of mine.
 

My only problem with all the AP's is that they start out great but then by the halfway point get ridiculous. Every one of the AP's ends up with the players teleporting, planar-travelling, and god-slaying by the end. And the pages of each of the last few modules are just filled with page-long enemy stat blocks.

Although perhaps this is just what the "iconic" D&D campaign ends up being and I just really don't like it.

In AoW, it seems Planar-travelling is at a bare minimum.
At higher level, players get to teleport, etc. This cant be helped as its a bonus to getting to the upper levels. The ending modules have long stat blocks because most classed enemies at that level have ALOT of spells and abilities. :)
