SCAG Thread

I wouldn't go that far - I would however, expect to see certs which say "you can play X class or Y race, regardless of your story origin". You can still play the race/class if you choose the correct story origin, but these kinds of certs would allow for players to mix elements that are normally prohibited due to story origin, while still allowing the admins to maintain control (so as not to introduce broken combinations).
Those kinds of certs are fine by me. They add PC diversity in a controlled manner, all without unfairly taking options away from the rest of the AL community. I also think it'll put a damper on the cert resale market, as the content provided won't necessarily be as "exclusive" as the previous con certs. Resellers asking for upwards of $200 (part of me still hopes that the person who first brought this up made a typo and meant $20) for what amounts to single-use DLC should have served as a sign that something is amiss with the current implementation of con certs. I get that they should have some value to them, but they shouldn't be worth scalping.

Honestly, as long as the cantrips get evergreen status and stay on all three spell lists, I'm perfectly content to see the SCAG get introduced into the AL in a piecemeal fashion. I have a build ready to roll out that uses the cantrips and nothing else from the SCAG. Although I won't object to getting my hands on the rest of the crunch all at once... ;)

I doubt that will be the case. I fully expect that Sword Coast Adventurers Guide will be exclusive to the Rage of Demons story origin.

I doubt it since it hasn't been announced to the coordinators either.

What Skerrit said. I am only making an educated guess based on previous story origins.
Oh well... Either way, the latest ride on the D&D hype train has only a week left before we find out the fate of the SCAG. I'm just excited at the possibility of people making Sorcerers outside of the Fire Dragonborn Draconic variety at my FLGS. I no longer assist in the creation of any more FDDS's.

I will never understand why people subject themselves to torture by speculating on this stuff.
Mostly just as a means of killing time before the announcement is made. Plus, with AL still in its infancy, paying attention to the way WotC handles certain things could yield insight into how similar situations are handled in the future. This time around, we get to see what happens when new crunch gets released in the middle of its originally intended season. Yes, WotC has said that the ALPG only gets updated before the season starts, but they are also still working the kinks out of their release schedule. Right now, we're at a crossroads that will set a precedent regardless of which course of action WotC takes. They can either stick to their guns, or they can optimize holiday sales by making it AL legal.

Also, I just enjoy the discourse and banter that comes with speculation. It's fun to see who got what predictions right or to analyze how new crunch will change the landscape of play.

There's a difference between finding enjoyment in discourse and heading straight to the worst case scenario, throwing ones hands up in the air, and decrying the whole debacle as an object failure--which tends to be the trend.
