Cats,

When you get the chance, please do review for us. (Btw don't worry about PP. It's terrible.) Not really any other ideas other than Hornsaw and/or Vera-tre.

Sorry, sorry. I don't do that because of some chaotic insanity, but because my browser doesn't keep my forum user information in memory, but 10 second after I write my user account pass word, and if I type any longer, I have to re-type my password and it is unable to send my post unless I copy-paste it.

So started typing in note-pad, with extra enters and stuff. Oh, well, must use Word instead it seems. Sorry for inconviance.
Sokay Zelda. Just letting you know.

Is The Cc Revised Worth It?

OH SAGE OF THE SCARED LAND IS THE CREATURE COLLECTION REVISED WORTH THE MONEY IF I ALREADY OWN THE ORIGINAL CREATURE COLECTION?

Well maybe not but still. Sage here. Insert Questions there. Answers forthcoming somewhere.

Three things Virtue,

1) Please turn off the caps. I don't like being "shouted" at.

2) Scared Lands? We of the Scarred Lands don't scare we just know the value of running when facing down hordes of Slitheren.

3) Considering I have both CC1 and CC Revised, I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoy CC Revised 10 times better than CC 1. Why? At least three of the art pieces NOW look like their descriptions. The skills, stats and feats are better done and therefore make more sense to their CRs than they did before and even after the errata for CC1. Finally, they have gone and turned three of the original CC1 creatures into templates. (There are more but these I felt needed it) By that I mean finally now Fatlings, SL Hags, and Unhallowed are templates. Fourthly, there's an appendix for all the races of the Scarred Lands so you don't have to hunt around for Termanan or Ghelspadian races.

Thanks

Sorry about the caps
Thanks alot i will order that book ASAP
Any overall ideas for a starting game in the scarred lands i own all the books i was thinking of starting with the free adventure on the swordandsorcery webpage i think at a high level we will deal with the grove of the black dragon kings wife

I prefer the CC Revised too, much more. And I have both as well. I pretty much never pull down the old CC-I anymore. Can anyone give me a reason why I should and what is in there that I absolutely need?

Give me a few days. I'm back tomorrow, so I'll get on it this coming weekend. Also my SL game is starting and I still have a ton of DM prep to do. Good fun!

Serpent Amphora and Asaatthi

FYI -- this is also posted at http://scarn.mortality.net

OK.... a few questions, I am starting my players thru the Serpent Amphora trilogy, starting with the free download starter module.

***** possible spoilers ahead *******

I am playing a 3.5 game and already I see that he powerlevel of the module is higher, because the assatthi in the CC revised is a bit more powerful, so the first encounter with 2 CR 4 creatures will be tougher than the original EL 4 encouter listed. This is ok, because the party is a bit tougher. With the spellcasting abilities of all asaathi being 3rd level wizard, there will now be two spell casting asaatth in the initial and subsequent encouters, making for a tough skirmish indeed - but that's ok too, the asaatthi are supposed to get away with the amphora.

SO.... first question. When you add A wizard level to an asaatthi, does it just bump their specasting level by +1? They already cast as a 3rd level wizard, does giving them a wizard level allow them to cast as a 4th level wizard?

Next question -- with the revision of the asaatthi making them generally more powerful, how does this affect the whole game balance of the asaatthi empire in the Ukrudan and swamps south.

Virtue,

Sounds like a good deal. (btw it's Gleeda's Grove and Virduk is the Black Dragon.)

Cats,

Firstly, regarding your CC1 question, I'd say no there's not. Especially since the vast majority of 3.5 stuff can be turned back into 3.0 without too much hassle. (3.0 versus 3.5 Psionics not withstanding.)

Secondly, take your time but I would like a review as soon as you can. Just cause input is good. :)

Thirdly, regarding your questions for Serpent Amphora. 1) Yes I'd say they'd stack for purposes of increased Spells Per Day, caster level. Much like dragons that get levels in sorcerer, asaatthi with a level in wizard would gain the class benefits/abilities of a 1st wizard, but have the spellcasting power of 4th level one. That's why they are dangerous foes. That said, there are still significant powers in the Ukrudan Desert to balance out the asaathi (just because there are some powerful wizards in their race, doesn't mean they can always handle a swarm of Daywalkers or a good raid by Sutak). Same for the Swamps. However that's why the ecology of the lands makes for some very interesting times. I hope that helps.
