Scarred Lands: Need Info

Mmmmm, Paladin. That's all we need to ensure a brawl right during intros. There aren't any paladins, are there?

That's funny, since my character is LE and Thorntangle's is LN. :)

The epic battle of law begins this weekend! Stay tuned for the courtroom drama.

Nope, no paladins yet. :)

Here is how the party shapes up so far:

1 human priest of Chardun
1 dark elf rogue
1 mountain dwarf rune wizard
1 monk (exemplar wannabe)
1 half-orc or human professional fighter

BTW, Dave, I agree that you chose your guy first, but since mcuh of the campaign will take place in Burok Torn (including the first adventure), you may have more of a problem than the dwarf.

Here is how I propose to resolve the conflict:

"--some name--" was a prominent rune wizard before the Titanswar when the dark elves and dwarves were allied. Always close to his dark elven allies, this dwarf was a scholar of magic, and he studied the dark elven forms of magic. Among his closest friends was a rebellious young dark elf (Dave's char). During the Titanswar, the Dwarven King (I think it was Thain) came to mistrust his dark elven allies and asked the great wizard to divine what would occur at their confrontation with Chern. The wizard conjured up images of deceit and betrayal--in particular, he saw his young friend (well, for an elf :) ) surrounded by spirits of death and disease. Fearing a tragedy to come, the wizard warned the young elf to leave his home and travel far to the south.
Refusing to let his own people die without him, the wizard stood with the dwarves at the Battle of Gambedal's Bridge. When Goran decided the dwarves had betrayed them and fled, he remained, refusing to believe the worst of his allies. Although he manages to surivie the ensuing slaughter, the wizard was badly wounded and soon became diseased.
As he lay dying, the wizard recorded what he had seen in his vision-- the young dark elf, standing between Goran and Nalthalos, and the truth about Gambedal's Bridge. The wizard had seen what was to come, the viscious war between the two races, and believed that this elven boy was somehow linked to its end.
Many years later, the wizard's son, himself a prominent rune wizard, came of age and discovered his father's writing. Half in disbelief and half with a sense of patriachal fility (sp?) he set off to find this elf and discover the truth of his father's visions.

With that, hopefully he won't kill you as soon as he sees you. Well, one can hope.

Nicely done, Mike. :)

Very sweet, and very much in keeping with the setting. That is the way I like to see exceptions to the rule - they should add to the characters involved.

Nighttfall, since you're here, can I be allowed to hi-jack the thread just a little ?

Sure, I'm always glad to help.

I'm curious of having more infos on Yugman the Sage (I assume you have the Wise & the Wicked, me I don't).

Yep, one of the LAST SL products I got before I went bankrupt. :)
Good thing too, as it compliments all my other stuff so far.

In fact, I want to know how it compare with Elminster. Not in term of power, but of "interestingness". Is the character a poorly-done clone of Gandalf, or is he something more inspired and original ?

I don't think he's in any way a Gandalf clone or even an Elminster clone (though he's got the Old Sage's streak for pratical jokes I feel.) For one, Yugman is PRETTY much self-interested. Meaning that while he might aid a party, he's more into his own ideas, and scholarships. He's not particular in favoring one side or another. Yugman is more about research as well as gaining knowledge. With him being CN, this is PERFECTLY within both his character AND alignment. He's also willing to help any one that does magical research, (like Neith of the Darkenee Phylacrtic Vault), as well as maybe even helping out a lone titanspawn. He's crotechy, a bit hot-tempered BUT never unnecessarily cruel or mean spirited. He just don't care for ignorance or destruction of knowledge. No one really knows how darn old the guy is and he's certainly no favorite with ANY of the gods or any titanspawn. Some rumors say he's really a god himself or a former servant of the Titans, or something MUCH older than that. What ever his true hertiage, Yugman is pretty much what you'd expect a vastly knowledgeble, fairly wise, and slightly charastimatic mage to be. But he's not what you'd call vain or arrogant, just a little full of himself at times, but not to the point of bomastic behavoir or outright egotism. But when you've been around as long as he has, I guess little pride isn't a bad thing to have.

I hope the Dark elf has a good life ensurance policy...or some robes of the eyes! :) I don't see a long future ahead for the poor elf. :D But hey Mike that WAS a nice way to deal with that as well as write in some stuff for the party. Good luck with that party...Have a feeling you'll need it! :)

*is glad though there's not a paladin in this party* He's probably touch off a jihad or something... :) Oh and about that Exemplar...hope you informed him getting that status isn't easy, ESPECIALLY since Asherak hasn't been done yet Mike! :D Or do have so insider info that I don't know about?

:D I know quite a bit about the exemplars. As for insider info, well, that would be telling. :)

Well, everyone seems so fatalistic around here. Would anyone care to inform the dark elf (i.e. ME) of what is so damn menacing?

The dwarves of Burok Torn have been fighting a "secret war" against the dark elves for a couple of millennia. Burok Torn: City Under Siege discusses how the dwarves live in a perpetual state of warfare with the dark elves and there is a great hatred between the two races.

Oh, is that all. I was beginning to think it was something more dire or dangerous. Methinks I should be upping my disguise skill or take maybe a Hat of Disguise in my starting gear (we're beginning at 5th level, 4th for me.

Any other suggestions other than keeping a low profile?
