School shootings in Montreal

Sadly, the Dawson killer was a gun loving nut.

Guns are not to blame for tragic events. Cars- motor vehicle accidents kill more people then gun users. People like Dawson's killer are to blame, not the weapons.

People die, and sometimes people are to blame for that death.

Sorry about the deaths that occured, but please don't lay blame on an object, lay it with the person that decided to use it.

I am sorry for all those that passed, it was tragic. :(

If he were unable to secure the weapon, he couldn't have perpetrated the crime. That he decided to shoot up the school is his own fault. That he succeeded in doing so is the fault of a system that allowed a gun to fall into the hands of a maniac. If the best weapon he could have secured was a knife, he wouldn't have been able to do so much damage, and perhaps wouldn't have gone ahead with the violence, since his chances of success would have been much lower.

The difference between a car and a gun is that the car is not designed to kill, but the gun is, and that design invites its use. The car may be more dangerous, but the gun is what you reach for when you decide to murder someone.

I disagree completely with this view, which I see as a sophism.

I agree with this. But Dr., we won't solve this issue here :) We are getting closer to the forbidden politics theme :)

You know I wrote this whole thing about guns and cars and then while reading it I realized the Mods would either edit it or shut down the thread.

I stand by what I said/implied- "things" are not evil/crazy/wacko, people are are.

Cars have caused more deaths then guns in the US (check the CDC)- its fact not theory.

Joel I am sorry you do not believe that I feel badly for those that died, but I do. People should not die like that, but sometimes they do.

Wish I could go further here, but I am trying to respect the site, and the creater's wishes.

Peace all.

Harmon, thanks for respecting the site rules and not taking this thread further into forbidden areas (the politics of guns), I'm sure that nobody else will go into the merits or otherwise of guns vs cars as instruments of mass murder in this thread.

Right guys?

Sure. I didn't fuel the debate by adding arguments for the same reason.

Hey, I never questionned this sadness, which honnors you, I was questionning the arguments I quoted in my post :)

Me too! :) But let's wander away from this thread...

(there should be a "debate/fight" board here :] , where everything is allowed :) Naaah, I know. As a mod on the Ravenloft board, I know bickering could/would spill to the other boards... ;) )

Where EN Worlders go to escape Eric's Grandma. ;)

Last time I was on EN was the 20th, I can only seldomly check my email so I know that posting or attending another board is going to happen even less then once every five days. Thanks for the invite, and normally I would consider it, but right now with eighteen and twenty hour dayz I have not the time.
