Ok I need help. Does anyone here know if there and "science fantasy" type campaign seeting out there now or comiing soon? What I mean by Science Fantasy is think Final Fantasy, Fantasy Star or Hew-Man and Masters of the Universe type setting. A fantastical world where magic and technology blends nicely.

Any ideas or thoughts?

Dragonstar from Fantasy Flight Games. Game takes place in the Dragon Empire, right after the ascension of the red dragon Mezzenbone to the throne. You have magical starships, Drow secret police, magical construct androids with the souls of the dead, and a growing frontier of lawless, primitive worlds that resemble standard D&D settings.

Should made it more clear but I am not looking for space opera of travelling through space. I am wanting to stay in one area, one planet. So this, Star Wars, Fading Suns or the one Poly a few issues back will not work. Yes you might tell I can do that those will be too tempting to use by he players and I do not want to deal with that. So whats next. Yes I know am strict but I have my reasons.

Plus I'm wanting more fantasical than Dragonstar (I should know I have the books) and less gritty. Think more Final Fantasy 8 through 10., which had more fantasy elements.

Gatecrasher d20

Well, it's not out yet, and it's not planned out until Q4 2004, but we are working on a d20 release of our Gatecrasher Science Fantasy Adventure game. You can check out details on our website (www.domibia.com), but here's the main blurb from the game:

In the Gatecrasher universe, High Tech and High Wizardry struggle for supremacy. Armored knights board space shuttles to pursue their chosen dragons across the solar system. Angels uphold the ideals of truth and justice; demons contrive to make a quick buck. Lycanthropes on Saturn's moons howl at the full planet overhead while cybernetic orcs inspect their power armor in preparation for storming a wizard's enclave...

...all because a 22nd-century prospector discovered an ancient transdimensional gate on one of Jupiter's moons, and let Magic back into the world.

It's currently written for Fudge with a very light-hearted approach. Our d20 version will be decidedly darker for more serious play.

It would be very easy to pull the light-hearted stuff out, and do a quick-n-dirty d20 conversion of the Fudge material. It would also be very easy to ignore the space travel bits, find a homeworld, and run with it (for instance, in Gatecrasher Earth has reverted to a more-or-less magic heavy world with pockets of technology - the World Federation housed on Luna hold a moratorium around Earth so spaceships can't land or take off without WF permission or sneaking through. Gatecrasher Earth would probably be a good place for the game you describe.)

Tim.

Not a campaign setting but you might want to look at Perpetrated Press's books *Arsenal* and *Factory* since they're both sci-fi/fantasy and could help provide some game mechanic source material for a campign. I think Dream Pod 9's mecha book also has some magical mecha--that sounds like it would be cool to include in a game.

Any other game out there? Gatecashers is not exactly what I am looking for. Its still space travel and its mor on earth. Final Fantasy and MotU is in another universe/deminson (but do not want to have space ships or portals).

I know this is tall order, but I have my reasons.

Well, you could always run a more fantastical Urban Arcana game (A la Shadowrun). If you run it with the PC races being integrated into society, you do get a fairly Final Fantasy feel (Heck, we've got a White Mage in our party right now).

I'm always a little amazed at these questions. If you have such specific requirements for your setting, then just make your own! You're the only one who knows exactly what you want.

It's also a bit confusing; you said you want a game, but from your further replies, it looks like you really want a setting. I don't know of one that looks exactly like what you are asking for. Just play Dragonstar and don't leave the planet. What's the big deal? The book itself refers to that kind of campaign.

Have you considered Gamma World? Perhaps that doesn't have enough magic for you, but you could always add it in. Since it's d20, that shouldn't be too hard.

Ok time to answer again.

Gama World will not work cause its earth, plain and simple. Looking for a non earth setting. I have my reasons.

Dragonstar no, cause of the tempation that I do not want. I know can do that but still its the tempation that still there.

I said before that I do not have time to create my world and that is why I am looking for one made already.

I have found two gmes Tekemuel from Guardians of Order but its only Tri-Stat not D20 and I am not sure if it's D20 ready. The is Talsitha which it's own game system. My group does not to tearn a whole new system and we know D20 very well and that is why I am looking for a D20 setting.

Im just looking for more exotic, quasi like world. Not your typical scifi or fanatsy d20 game.
