D&D 5E Second Wind: Yes or No?

Should DDN have Second Wind?

  • Yes, as a daily resource.

    Votes: 12 6.7%
  • Yes, as an encounter resource.

    Votes: 73 40.8%
  • Only as an optional module.

    Votes: 59 33.0%
  • No.

And if it's an option, with one of their much-talked-about "dials" - then it should have many settings, including, "off," "daily," "encounter," and perhaps even "At-will." Because why not.

Don't like SW? Switch dial to "off."

Want it as a daily? Switch dial to appropriate setting.

Liked it the way it was? Leave dial on "Encounter."

Want to go with a low-magic campaign? Turn it to "at-will" and see what happens.

More options don't hurt anyone's enjoyment of the game, but leaving them out might. If this is the "big tent" edition, that's not something they can afford to do. Increasingly, it's looking more and more like this is not the big tent edition after all.

Sure, nothing wrong with what you're proposing. I personally feel they shouldn't be in the core at all, but there's no reason it shouldn't be on one of the "Dials".

They probably *won't* be in the core, but that's not what this poll was addressing. The poll only asked if Next should have them at all. The vast majority (over 80%) of respondents have indicated that it should be present in the game some form, which, if they're being true to their stated aims means it certainly should be, with a dial ranging from "off" to "as often as you like."
