6 per day.. yup those are a daily resource.. and they are the only limit on those spells the healing surge has more limits than them. Unless you now figure they are at-will spells.... which just happen to require a daily resource.

... Daily Powers are so dramatic and powerful that you can use each only once per day.

A daily power can be used once a day.

So a second wind, that can be used more than once a day is... Regardless of the tied resource, second wind can't be a daily. But loving your enthusiasm.

Also, I said second wind in the new system should be optional and no more than a daily.

You said that's how it works in 4e, and that is incorrect.

But, enthusiasm.

OK fine ...yes you meant once per day (per the 4e technical term) and no I have no desire to change your vote.

What I meant was that Second Wind while limited to once per encounter were also limited by a "daily resource" - It is a general term which exists in many forms and games before 4e its not just a 4e term , I can cast 6 level 3 spells per day ie I can cast them 6 times daily.

As I said I cant vote for once per encounter (which would be stupidly often) even if I wanted 4 times a day ... and I cant really vote daily (with 1 per day meaning) either /both seem crapolicious.

The poll says as a "daily resource" and as an "encounter resource"... those are more general terms.

We could always tie it's use to the other score...what was it called? CAN? CEN? OH! Right, CON. Yeah that one....I think it does something game related.

Out of combat, there is nothing to differentiate an encounter power from an at-will.
Yeah, I think the rules don't address this very well. When running a skill challenge I don't allow more than one use of an encounter power, even if - within the fiction - the PC has had 5 minutes of rest during the course of the challenge.

I've run into this one a few times. My Dark Sun character has the Noble background which gives him an encounter power which allows me to boost a die roll by d4+1. We've been careful not to let that get abused and basically said that it can be used once in a skill challenge even though technically more time has passed.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Some folks here seem to have not learned a very basic rule of communication - snark never convinces anyone you're right, if they don't already agree with you. Being snide on the internet does not get others to cede a point to you. What it does is make them feel like you're a rude jerk, and perhaps rightly so.

Thus, I strongly advise against further use of snarkiness in this thread. Please report further instances, and then ignore them so that the thread can remain peaceful while the mods consider what to do with the individuals involved. Thanks for your attention.

And if it's an option, with one of their much-talked-about "dials" - then it should have many settings, including, "off," "daily," "encounter," and perhaps even "At-will." Because why not.

Don't like SW? Switch dial to "off."

Want it as a daily? Switch dial to appropriate setting.

Liked it the way it was? Leave dial on "Encounter."

Want to go with a low-magic campaign? Turn it to "at-will" and see what happens.

More options don't hurt anyone's enjoyment of the game, but leaving them out might. If this is the "big tent" edition, that's not something they can afford to do. Increasingly, it's looking more and more like this is not the big tent edition after all.
