Can you be a little more specific? I have a who friend knows alot about Illuminati conspiracy theories so I could ask him questions if you stated what you needed to know about.

There will be a handful of secret societies in my campaign as mentioned below. I'll need some help fleshing out the details. I did give some more detail the Illuminati (which don't resemble anything the conspiracy theorists say).

The Illuminati. Its member organizations include the Masons, the Rosicrucian's, the Knights of Malta, the Order of St. George, and the Shriners. They have no where near the political power that they are said to possess. Also as their name suggests, they are Good aligned. They really are the "Illuminated Ones". They have a track record of supporting political losers ranging from Barry Goldwater to Adlai Stevenson. They have as much political power as the Green and Libertian Parties put together.

The Tri-Lateral Commission. Its member organizations include the Knights of Malta, the Order of St. George, and The Final Church. Its Lawfully aligned.

The Concordia Disconcordia. It's member organizations include the Masons and the Shriners.

Are you running d20 Modern? I assume so, but it could also be a medeival-style setting.

Anyhow, I have used secret societies in the past (of my own devising, mostly, though I also had an Illuminati society). They offered the opportunity for many roleplaying or adventure hooks. Good times!

You might actually also consider detailing the intelligence services of the nations in your game- they will likely try to keep an eye on the secret societies that operate inside their borders at the least!

Some secret societies are likely to be based on heretical religious beliefs, some on political agendas, some on economics. Some center around a single figure, some around a philosophy or creed.

Can you give a lil more detail about your world? It's pretty hard to be anything but maddeningly vague without a little more info. :)
