It's a tradeoff. I hide the results when I'm doing brackets. I think it does promote honest voting (in terms of non-strategic voting); but the downside is that people are less likely to comment, and check on the progress.
Pretty much this. The survivor threads get a lot of comments because they generate their own little narrative during the voting, but you end up with results that might not match up with what you're expecting.

I voted my conscious and picked the two settings that most interest me. Neither of them will win. And odds are neither will make it to the next round. That's ok!

I voted for Dark Sun and Planescape because they are way, way better than all the boring old generic fantasy settings! Discuss.

I fully agree about Dark Sun and Planescape...those are the two I voted for. I mean, we a already have Forgotten Realms, or else maybe I would have voted for that or Greyhawk. But a traditional medieval kitchen sink setting is a given. And I know hard core fans of either Greyhawk or FR will argue the differences till they're blue in the face, but both settings pretty much offer the same thing.

Sooo...given that we already have Forgotten Realms, no need for Greyhawk or Krynn, so I voted Dark Sun because I think it's the most dynamic setting. And I voted Planescape because it's the most fantastic. And technically it would also kind of count as a vote for every setting, in a way.
