SG1: An Old Friend (Wik Judging)

ooc: I will be without computer access until Tuesday evening. Stonegod, if you need to NPC me during upcoming combat, please do so. Otherwise, he'll activate his dragonmark once they get into the bedroom, searching for the control stone Aldus described.
Good hunting, and I'll see you in a couple of days.

[For reasons that will be clear below, I'm rectoning to assume you asked this before you got to the door]

"Mr. Thunderbanner? Would you have any other keys or trap bypasses for your property? I would rather not disassemble any existing defenses you have.
"Just on me valuables here and me desk are them traps," Aldus/Cheep whispers. The odd creature looks odd, as if trying to communicate relief at the items' safekeeping.

Also... what is that alcove for?" He points to the southeast corner of the trophy room.
[The alcove is where the spiral staircase is that leads to the first floor---its obscured by y'all]

[Move Silently checks all around; Listen check]

His had reaching for the door, the wizard's hands stop suddenly when he hears the sound of rustling and metal softly shifting. There seems to be some activity behind the door.

Balnibar grins widely. His eyes expand wide as a thousand calculations course through his mind.

He sets off to examining the closest trophy, trying to understand the trap mechanism. He looks back at the door, and pulls some twine and candlewax from his pack. There must be some way to redirect traps in this room to the bedroom door or stairwell, he thinks.

OOC: I assume that is a search check. Is is a normal one, or do you want to take 20 knowing that there are folks moving about downstairs and in the room?

[Search Check: 26]

The closest significant item looks to be the ornate shield. A quick inspection unveils a pressure plate attached to the shield---if removed, some sort of attack mechanism is triggered. It is possible that a trigger could be rigged to pull it off the wall, but unless the target was not directly in front of the shield, the affect would be wasted.

[sblock=Genithar]Your sharp ears think you heard the sound, whatever it is pause.[/sblock]

Shooting an alarmed look at the obviously curious halfling, the Wizard hisses in an extreme whisper to the group, "Something's behind this door. Doggie, perhaps? Going through may raise the alarm."

Shifting to the Scion of Thrashk, Genithar requests, "Locate the stone, now.'

ooc; StoneGod/Redclaw, please activate the dragonmark

Edit on my above note, Dirk:
[sblock=Genithar]The sound *downstairs* stopped. You think the sound is still going on from the room (but you'd have to check)[/sblock]

Alarm in his eyes, the Wizard wildly, if quietly, gestures for silence and then points *down*stairs and makes a 'walking up steps' motion with two fingers. Signaling for Lorth to take the front, Genithar shifts his gaze to Corran and mouths 'NOW'.

Mathew continues to admire the artifacts waiting for the group to move on. As he notices the door to open will ready his mace for the venture forward.
