SG1: An Old Friend (Wik Judging)

Mathew seeing the warmth return to his friends body, lets out a deep sigh of relief and falls back against the wall behind him. He rubbs the large lump on his upper forehead and tries to gather his thoughts. Then remembering what caused the wound he moves to see what the flinger is made of.

Lorth looks around at his injured companions with concern. He was relatively fine, but the others appeared to have little left in them. "We are not fit for another fight like this. We need to finish this soon."

Balnibar pants heavily as he rubs his forehead. "Finally! You'd think those idiots would at least respect such a clever device! Well... I think I'll sit down a moment while the rest of you come up with a clever plan."
OOC: Sorry I haven't been around! I'm going to be in and out for the next couple of months as I move across the country.

Awesome, Mellub! I'm glad the trip is going well. I trust you're now out of harms way? As for the rest of us, let's rise to IVV's challenge! Also, STONEGOD, is the North of the present room an open entrance? Or a closed doorway?

As the battle begins to conclude, the Wizard rushes over to the fallen youth, helping him to his feet as the wounds are healed. Though Genithar's face is pained at the strain of hefting the bulkier Corran, the half elf still smiles as he asks, 'The Hunt is still on, yes? You've more fight left in you, friend Corran?'

Looking to the others, and approaching Cheep, the Wizard removes the repair oil he has and asks 'Should I use this on Cheep?' and then continues brusquely, 'I suggest we search this room, as well as the three men in our midst, for any useable items. Also, does anyone know anything about this 'House' that scum referred to? After our search, our next move should obviously be to continue onward. But, I suggest we take a clue from this battle and use the smoke sticks I found to create a fog of cover for defense. I shall pass out sticks to each of us and as we engage the enemy, whomever is first able should break their smokestick and then we can use this spot to our advantage in the fight. I again suggest that Lorth take the lead, followed by Balnibar and his oh-so effective rapier, then Corran who still has a scroll of healing, our only one, Matthew next...actually, Matthew, can YOU repair Cheep? Finally I will take rearguard, and know that my spells are still very much intact and I am most ready to use them. What of you other casters? Matthew? Corran? How much more energy do the two of you have left to use?'

As he awaits his comrade's opinions, comments, and questions, the Wizard finally gives a show of his own power, and begins a quick incantation, placing his finger tips against one another as the spidery language of magic pours off his tongue. Then, with a flourish of his hands and a final word of power, the spellcasting ceases. Blinking his eyes rapidly, the Wizard moves to the south east doorway and gazes about the room for 18 seconds, then begins to search the bodies of three men, spending time to find and sketch the abberant marks of the two rogues. Finally Genithar turns his search upon the cluttered room, hoping to find alchemical, mundane, or much needed curative items.

ooc; G casts detect magic and surveys the room for three rounds to find auras, power lvl, and if possible the school (if infact there is active magic). Also, would Know;Nobility be applicable to determine what 'House' the rogue refered to? Whew, that's a big post! This game rocks!

The hunt is still going, although the quarry proves more dangerous than I had expected. Still, the more dangerous the game, the greater the trophy! Corran replies to Genithar, a wry grin on his face as he checks his now-healed wounds. Thank you, Mellub. It is good to be mostly whole again after being mostly holes.
As for the "house", I don't remember hearing anyone say such a thing, so it was probably while I was unable to hear. However, connecting that with these odd dragonmarks, it seems likely that these rogues are claiming to be part of a new house. I don't know about Cannith, but I can assure you that House Tharashk will not meet this news with enthusiasm.

[There is a door at the north side of the room]

A quick search of the room turns up a lot of things, but little of immediate use. Some chain, bits of rope, scrap metal and wood, all useful in Aldus' line of work but not so for adventurers. Searching the fallen turns up a little more---6 gp all told in change, a brace of hand crossbows with about 2 dozen bolts between them, three shortwords, and the heavy's bastard sword. None of it is magical, but Genithar does manage to turn up a potion on the thug---a healing potion for moderate wounds according to his training. [Spellcraft]

Mathew and Balnibar take a moment to examine the flinger. It is a solid piece of work, but beyond their capability to rearm and deploy. [Craft Checks] Balnibar thinks he might be able to jury-rig it to fire once, but it would become in-operational afterwards. [Disable Device]

The mystery of the 'House' remains that. Genithar is not familiar with any organization calling themselves by that name in arcane circles, and none of them are familiar enough with Sharn to understand its seedy underworld. The elf's study of history allows him to recall that there was an organization of aberrant marked scions in the distant past that might have been a false 'House', but nothing solid. [Knowledges]

Tapping his lip thoughtfully, the Wizard murmurs, 'A new House....an Aberrant House, no less....interesting. Remember, Aldus mentioned the thugs who attacked him were asking after the Draconic Prophesy. The two are no doubt related. Cheep...er, Aldus, can you shed any light on this? Is Cheep still operational?'

Pointing out the potion, Genithar asks the group, 'Would we be better served if Lorth carried the potion, to heal himself? Or would it be better for Corran to carry it, so he can use it if one of us falls? If the faithful of Dol Arrah is taken down in combat, we will be in dire straights. We must make sure Lorth does not fall.'

Moving to the commondeered gear, Genithar pockets 2 gp, one of the hand crossbows and a dozen of the bolts, asking that either Corran or Lorth heft the bastard sword, for later sale.

Passing out a smoke stick to Lorth, Balnibar, and Corran, Genithar awaits the response to his potion question, but other than that, seems ready to press on.

Cheep chirps up at his mention. "Hmm?" Aldus sounds distracted. "Aberrant marks? Never fought one of those buggers before.... wait. That jogs something. One of my expeditions. But I no be remembering the details. Cursed memory!"

The homunculus hovers a moment, then Aldus continues distractedly. "That kobold and the big thug are arguing again. Cannot hear them---must have done something to the sound. Not sure, but the big guy does not look happy."

Just a note: Remember, someone still has a floating scroll of cure light in addition the the potion of cure moderate. And until Mathew gets some healing (even minor) he is stuck with standard actions only for at least an hour.

Corran takes the offered smokestick and points the potion toward Lorth. I'll keep the scroll, but Lorth should take the potion. He then steps over and converts light into cure minor wounds and casts it on Matthew.
There, now. We've not brought our prey down yet. Can you continue?
Why don't we leave the sword here for now and pick it up afterwards. No need to risk the hunt over lesser game.
