shadow wielding holy ghost touch axe?

What happens to a (standardly evil monster) shadow that wields a ghost touch holy +1 greataxe? An evil character would gain one negative level for wielding a holy weapon, but this is an undead, and negative levels are actually good for them (give them temp. hp?).

How's it a good thing? The shadow would lose 5hp.

Not quite right - undead are immune to energy drain and most negative energy effects, not negative levels. Negative levels from a Holy Sword are untyped, and bypass the undead's immunity. The shadow "gains" -5 HP, -1 to all saving throws, et cetera, as would a living evil person picking up the sword.
